With the last two AOTY winners being Taylor/Bey kinda makes me wonder if they will award another pop album so soon and with three rap albums nominated, they might want to give it to one of those instead.

 

I've seen a lot of young TikTok critics push the overdue narrative for Gaga, but we don't really know if the industry feels the same way and regardless Kendrick also fits that narrative. Worst case scenario she's snubbed in all the general field categories and only takes home Pop Vocal Album/Dance Recording.

 

Whichever way it goes it's hard to care as much or feel like everything is riding on this moment when the entire era has been incredible and so enjoyable as a fan.

i lowkey have faith now michael is her manager and she won an emmy out the blue which she was lacking, she'll get her GF award. She also has narrative that DWAS missed. if grammys wanted to be fair they;d award Gaga SOTY and ROTY and bad bunny AOTY as Kendrick got two the year prior

AOTY really has the best shot for her rather than the song categories.

 

Only 3 pop albums in the category; only 2 female nominees; a lot of big genres don't have an album to rally behind, like jazz, traditional, global and country, Gaga can get a lot of support from these branches; the inclusion of more younger (20-30) voters actually benefits Gaga since a lot of them growing up under Gaga's big music influence, meanwhile her other pop competition is not an veteran.

 

This is her award to lose tbh.

crazy how she still manages to have such success after so many years 

 

I skimmed through this video and they went in depth about the politics of it all and now its got me thinking they've set up AOTY to go to a rap album or BB. You would think 3 rap albums would split the vote but idk I reckon there will be enough passion behind those 3 albums that one will end up winning and it might not even be Kendrick and then Bad Bunny winning makes the most sense overall for obvious reasons.

 

They basically said Gaga has been consistent her entire career and her winning album of the year does absolutely nothing for her career and in turn does nothing for the Grammys. They even said Justin is the most yt person on that list so he'll be taking a lot of those votes too and Gaga's only play is her legacy. Taylor and Bey's past wins is kinda the same thing but competition is way tougher this year in terms of narrative for the nominees. Taylor and Bey were basically just going up against the strongest pop albums so ofc they would come out on top.

 

It's basically same thing that happened back when she lost for Shallow to This Is America, if this is the case I hope they'll be generous enough to give her another general field category

Kendrick has a lot of cross genre appeal. He had it in the bag without Tyler and Clipse. They were the worst case scenario to happen, tho i doubt they'll siphon as many rap votes, he still needs a large sum of their rally, which now will be split. + Tyler's album was also highly acclaimed, so no doubt he'll also get the votes of alternative artists who lean towards rap, votes that were 100% for Kendrick till now.

 

Godga doing this well with multiple genre blocks… and they're also older musicians from the more "traditional" fields, partly thanks to the absence of Elton/Brandi & Batiste
