Some of the Drake theories are serving QAnon :deadbanana2:

I think he worships her, but wanted to get his album out before she came because he knew it wouldn't live up to hers and he wanted to get partial credit for the very obvious house trend that's on the rise

THIS.

I'm by no means a Drake stan and his move was shifty, but it's nothing to take personal.

All at once he can love Bey, be featured on Renaissance, and have sneakily rushed to drop his Dance album first.

I feel a lot of these acts are cool with each other and extend professional courtesy. I'm pretty sure he knew about Bey's album (even the date) and Bey knew about his rush-release. Note that he was seen all smiles with Jay recently. So, annoying as his antics were to us, it's highly unlikely it matters much to them.

Them actually having a collab, beyond being way overdue, actually will make the thinkpieces about the re-claiming of Dance music pretty neatly interwoven.

just realised 30 and Renaissance got almost exactly the same number of likes on twitter (491k), 800k debut confirmed? :jonny3:

I’d be happy for the 491k tbh

now he has his history with everyone (even jay :skull: ) but yeah he has never said anything negative towards her so I don’t think working with him is a problem + demos going around is not new

I know he has beef with a bunch. I meant his adoration for B is nice, not too creepy and not too obsessed as he tends to be.

Anyway my comment was a bit rude but it's partially a joke, sorry. Reading the last pages was a roller-coaster : people being excited, people being warry of the producers and potential features then TG being thrown under the bus and EIL being dragged accordingly and then people getting mad at the complainers and there's also one or two who just come to tell you B invented water, is the best thing since slice bread and is about to kill it. Oh I love the Hive. :lmao: :rofl:

Now I know I should have taken my Friday and Monday album's week off. Ugh. Gotta go back.

I just KNOW I'm that Girl, Cuff It, Church Girl, Alien Superstar, America Has A Problem, and Summer Renaissance will be THOSE girls. :jonny6:

All of those pages of you guys hating on TG and EIL baffle me. I play those 2 albums way more than Lemonade and ST, especially Everything Is Godly

I agree, even though I've never really seen it for EIL.

I think it's context they both arrived in.

With EIL: the world had "The Carters" fatigue. Self Titled lifted the lid, Elevator-gate exposed the drama, Lemonade spilled the tea, and 444 expanded on it. We love tea, but it spilled on for a little too long. Then they forced joint tour after the epic-ness of Coachella. It just didn't create the climate for the music (which, though not great, wasn't "bad") to ever be received well.

With TG: That was straight hateration. Because to date that is home to some of her best work. We've been screaming for her to sing. She sang. We've been wanting her to dance more. She danced. We wanted songs for the radio, the club, and ballads. She did it all exceptionally.

That said, I think she dropped the ball with the marketing. It's as if she didn't want to lean too in. Then the whole Lion-King thing (is it the soundtrack or isn't it), the stupid and illogical backlash from some corners of Black Twitter (which can be best described as cutting off your nose to spite your face), and then it's understandable underperformance because of all of this. The Disney+ drop for BIK may be the most frustrating of all, as it was a) too new a platform with not enough subscribers and b) isn't where Bey's core audience would ever really be.

In Pop culture, people really like to be affiliated with success. Should anything not do well, there's this auto-equalisation to the quality being bad. It's stupid AF, but at this point we're not going to reinvent the consumption wheel. It literally is what it is.

Even Bey clocks game and is leaning in more now because the days of selling off your name (without lighting some kind of match underneath it) are kind of over.

I know. But there's a general consensus that Bey didn't give Mine it's due during ST era.

Also, Drake went on to become a mega mega star. He collabs with everyone and, unless we want to be stuck with Jay collabs forever, it's the most natural pick sonically and in terms of superstar scale for Bey.

ALSO...

There's definitely future acts on the way.

Anyone realize that Ryan Tedder is NOT on this list, but Raphael Saaqiq is? Variety mentioned them both.

Furthermore, NOTHING about this tracklist gives Country at all.

I really feel Queen is coming through with a themed project that will see each act spin into different sounds and holistically it alll ties into reclaiming Black genres:

* Act 1: House/Urban

* Act 2: Country/R&B fusion

* Act 3 (?): Who knows?!

I’m happy because tbh I didn’t want to hear any country songs.

TBH, same. Not because I don't want them in general (Daddy Lessons remains one of the best songs on Lemonade). But that Variety article may be the one thing of the era I didn't like. Heavy Dance and Country on an album from an R&B artist (that would still need to infuse R&B) just sounded like a clusterf*ck.

Spreading it all all makes this feel much more structured while still connected to the same umbrella project thematically.

The reason the gp isn’t giving her the crown was because of Michael’s length in the industry all the way back to the Jackson 5 Beyoncé has eclipsed Michael but the general consensus will be solidified and respected and not a debate with this era. I’ve studied pop culture I know what I’m talking about.

I'm not disputing his impact is superior since it conspicuously is, given the inspirations, emulations and timelessness of his music post-prime. It's virtually impossible to surpass that, and I don't believe she will objectively supersede said impact anytime soon as that's so improbable. My stance was about talent/skill, which is where the TRUE eclipsing is taking place.

Please share your Pop Culture Theory argumentations on why you propose she'll most likely beat him in terms of impact.

The way some of you guys won't let other people have different tastes :priceless:...  Her most successful era IASF gets constantly trashed on here. It's nothing about success, just musical preferences. I think albums are also complex to judge, they're more than the sum of their parts and can't just be meassured like

"Ballad" Tick
"Club Anthem" Tick

And even on albums I don't like there's usually one or 2 bangers or songs that I love. I think Bigger, FYB & Otherside are the ATRL favs from The Gift. But I'm glad you think it's some of her best work. It has its moments, for me a whole it's kind of fast food. The beats/melodies are nice, but the writing and production are not layered or ambitious enough compared to the material that reignited my love for Bey during ST/Lem. But that's part and parcel of doing a forced interpretation of the Lion King.

P.S All the none fans who I've played FYB to, are a bit shook. That was her radio return right there. But she tried Mood 4 Ever instead. Kii

Wow! To add: There are even deeper and more subtle reasons why TG tanked. One of them pertaining to the controversial title in today's climate, which a person argued about the other day on this thread. He/she posited how it wasn't particularly a call-to-action type of title that is click worthy on the Disney+ service (a platform consisting of a psychographic that is predominantly a parents/kids-monitoring-what-can/can't-be-seen dynamic), falling under the umbrella of "marketing" that you mentioned. In other words, "TG" not only most likely made parents concerned, but kids in general found the name dull and thus NOT MCU/SW/Pixar/DC-worthy, UGH! It doesn't help that the live action Lion King movie was NOT a great movie, just utterly underwhelming, and therefore missing the re-watchable factor. The soundtrack to the movie was lackluster and mighty disappointing since we only got to hear her about 2x, which is BLASPHEMOUS. Like, her VOICE screams/begs "Circle of Life" and a slew of new G-friendly, Broadway-esque tunes a la "How Far I'll Go" & "Let It Go". Beyoncé was supposed to have those two said moments, which was an enormous opportunity missed since it was an easy "Miracles" and Whitney/Celine oriented opportunity that she should have capitalized on since she so NEEDED it for herself (broadway voicing moment) and the culture. Of course, the other drawback was the poor taste in cohesion/connection between the movie and TG album; it seemed so unnecessarily stretchy and overall tangential the thematic points and tropes of TG visual/lyrical presentation. YUCK! Topping it all off, the body of work, TG, though fantastic beyond belief, needed some extra salt and sugar here and there. Buena Vista/Disney and Beyoncé marketing team both dropped the ball.

The least Disney and Beyoncé's marketing team could have done was to portray her to be the Female Black Panther meets Wonder Woman kind of archetype under the Mickey Mouse palace, that way it'd camouflage perfectly into the gen-z, adolescent friendly mold. More mula for both entities! This is not rocket science. Beyoncé's overall marketing is wack and it psychologically triggers me
