Hopefully something big is coming with the album release and I don’t mind waiting for that. If the video came out the first week, you know people would already be over it, like people in the base have admitted they don’t even play BMS. 

Yeah personally BMS already peaked higher than I think it deserved so I don’t care about the video . 
 

I do think that coming off of The Gift/EIL, and the Tidal Exclusives Bey needs to be doing more, but I’ll happily eat my words if I’m wrong.

Tomorrow will be exactly 2 weeks before the album release. I expect promo to start next week, if not tomorrow/this weekend.

I get the frustrations on both sides, but ultimately the album is coming and so is whatever plan they have. A plan we know nothing of...yet. 

 

That's the bit that gets me. We can't be so pressed over the lack of BMS video to assume that Bey, Columbia, Live Nation etc aren't extremely invested in this era being a huge success. "Beyonce" is a vital part of her label's infrastructure and is literally known for going all-out with envelope-pushing ideas and launches. Is that SUDDENLY changing now? Very unlikely. 

 

Checking the single thread (which is ironically more easy reading than here) shows that the song is looking at a third week in the top 10 without said video. I want it just as much as everyone else, but surely we ought to trust the process and enjoy the ride. Because moaning every hour on the hour won't make the video come any quicker than it was going to come...whether it's dropping today or July 29th.

Thinking about it...didn't Big Freedia recently reveal that she was on a shoot with Bey a few weeks ago? I remember her saying she didn't know what it was for but that there were lots of designer handbags etc on set.

as someone who has been optimistic and vocal about it, it has nothing to do with wanting Beyoncé to give recognition or being seen as a "good fan" but a desire to not get caught up in unneccessary negativity that only weighs down the fun of the rollout...it's about enjoying the fun of being being an actual "FAN" during an artist's first new solo era in 6 years. Yes that allows for critiquing her, sure, but does it mean constant bitterness and annoyance about any little thing that's started way before the era even began and continues because she...didn't surprise release...but didn't do enough yet?

 

 

I'm not bothered by how this era is unfolding even if I can question certain decisions because my appreciation of a new Beyoncé era/music is not relative to how "perfect" its rollout is. I think some of us are probably just tired of reading complaints all the time and hope we can enjoy what we have so far. If I'm defending her/the rollout, it's not for points from Beyoncé but in the hopes of showing how it's not that bad because what real use is being mad at her for not releasing a video going to do to but make you more mad? We need to just accept the rollout as what it is and find enjoyment in the path it leads us.

A few observations…

She hit almost every demographic…The clips are mostly of Black, femme, or Queer creators…For the “Bey is back” line, she paired it with a clip of someone walking away from the camera (troll)…Cardi is hilarious…The credits are a thoughtful touch.
