Not bad for an album by any measure in this day and age, but especially for one who's only hit was Texas Hold 'Em.

People can clown all they want but you can't name many artists who were still getting #1 hits/albums and platinum selling projects nearly 30 years into their career.

Most acts cool off before then.

If these allegations are false (and we still don't know whether they are or not), the public already have their minds made up.

The only way this can effectively be moved on from is if it goes to court and Jay is found innocent not because there isn't enough evidence to convict him, but because there is tangible evidence to prove he couldn't have committed the crime (eg he wasn't at the venue, witnesses give him a bulletproof alibi, etc etc)

anything else will remain a stench on his legacy and thus a smear on Beyoncé's brand (if she stays with him) due to its conflict with her feminist persona.

It doesn't matter whether you think that's right or wrong - it's just true

I believe Jay and, in being facts-led, I would have liked to see it definitively hashed out in court for him to really wack the opposition with proof of his innocence. But IMO that would actually have been worse.

As both an MJ stan and a student of Comms, Branding and the like, trust when I say that the longer something is left to sizzle the longer it lingers.

We have a sect of people who are essentially committed now to not believing him and want the Carters to be done. So, what does a long, drawn-out trial achieve? Nothing.

Because I've been to this rodeo with other faves before, it ends up going something like this: the case gets serialized in the media (with the case against the star being the juiciest headlines and the defense - no matter how strong - barely getting any airtime). In the event the star mounts a solid rebuttal and wins, the damage is done, the deals have evaporated, and they are bizarrely tasked with embarking on a "comeback" or "redemption" arc as if they were found guilty. The pitchfork holders stick to the stance that people were "paid off" for the "not guilty" even when the jury verbalizes why they went in that direction.

It's literally not worth it. Not financially. Not time-wise. And not in the bigger picture.

IMO, Jay, his legal team, and his crisis manager/s have actually handled this almost perfectly. From not settling to emphasizing no money will be paid to borderline demanding a criminal trial. The personalized approach to his clapbacks rips up the rulebook of hiding behind lawyers, stepping out with the fam (while calculated) emphasizes that he won't hide because he has nothing to hide, and his legal filings make clear that he's not playing.

Not to sound all-knowing, but I really get the sense that some of the Hive have long not liked Jay (for reasons unrelated) and are semi-latching on to this being true or more of an "issue" (regardless of truth) so as for him to be purged out of the picture. Like, with respect, what about where this case is trending (aka towards dismissal) in ANY WAY points to Bey needing to "divorce" him for the sake of her brand? (As inferred by many). It literally makes no sense.

IMO, this further supports my belief that some stans just don't get how "this" works. "This" meaning Bey's fame, her family, brand, and her sustaining all of those pillars. It's giving that some stans still assess this through a very fantasy-like/movie lens with Bey being the "goodie" and Jay being the "baddie" she needs to be rid of. All the while not realizing how intertwined and mutually beneficial their union is on every tip.

Now that's not to say that Bey should stay with an abuser, but there is no irrefutable proof or smoking gun to indicate that that's the case. So, I really do not get the "he/they" are "over" in the GP's eyes rhetoric. It's definitely chipped at his damn near Teflon armor, but I really think it will be business as usual once this is dismissed. If anything I'm seeing my whole timeline (celebs to public) calling this a shakedown. Especially after her interview.

The image damage is already done but it can definitely get a lot worse. I honestly would be more worried about others coming out of the woodwork with different allegations

Nah, not really, The reason why is because jay has handled this perfectly, he has been able to shift the narrative to him being extorted and how he has no intention of settling at all. With the NBC reporting that just came out, A LOT OF PEOPLE think the woman is lying. Jay acted upon it quickly and i think it will set a blueprint going forward before such claims are filed against celebrities.

Diddy was cooked mainly because of the Cassie video. That is really what killed him. Diddy could have fought it as well but he lost when he settled and the video was released.

Jay's case is completely different and people can actually see that.

i've had a vision....

The Linda Martell voiceover begins.... the audience is lit up but the stage is dark.... Linda's VO ends, bey says "With the snap of a finger i'm thanos" (hate that line), the audience lights go out and the stage lights up and there she is, doing her staredown at the camera song, then she gives an energetic performance of Spaghetti.  Shaboozey comes on at the end, bey disappears... shaboozey's part stops... the guitars at 0:40 of AR come in and bey is standing there in a fur and cowboy hat and sings the song

I hate to say this but in a weird way, maybe these allegations happening (and  possibly being proved wrong) is what needed to happen. For decades there have been conspiracies about Jay and Bey, ramping up in the past few months with the "she knows" thing. But there were never any actual allegations. Now there are, and if it comes out that it's all a lie, maybe it will put an end to those conspiracies and make people question whether all the other crazy stories about them are untrue too - and remove them from the Diddy conversation altogether.

Then again maybe not and people will still be stupid enough to believe everything they read. 🤷‍♂️

I completely get this. i think that is why jay made a point not to settle at all. Cause if he did and it comes out, they would have used that

some women.... were made

If Jay Z is proved innocent in the court of law, people will just be angry, say the system failed, say that he paid the judge off and begin to over speculate other areas of his life.

It's so crazy how the stans of other incredibly successful artists HATE to see the success of the Carter's so much that they're willing to spread and believe misinformation that doesn't even add up. DON'T EVEN GET ME STARTED ON THE **** IVE SEEN SAID ABOUT BLUE THIS PAST WEEK!!!

Beyoncé is actually held to an unbelievable standard and it's a miracle she hasn't retired yet.

Like we really let that "she knows" **** run wild and the same ppl who condemned her, turned around and elected a rapist POTUS who also had an extensive relationship with Diddy as well as just about every other abuser under the sun. What is this timeline we're living in where pop stars are being held to higher standards than the literal president? :jonny2:

THIS.

TBH, I think a huge part of why she's slowing down and pulling back (outside of it being a savvy way of extending her "run") is her being exhausted with the BS that comes with the level of fame she has achieved.

She's in the unique position of reigning above all but, as a result, not being in position to ever really wax honest about the drawbacks of the position she has. The unrealistic standards she's held to, the beacon of perfection she's "meant" to represent, and the very very VERY bizarre reality of people hating you for the **very** same reason they love you (beauty, achievements etc). Oftentimes with both the hate and the love occuring within the same person. It must be the ultimate head-f**k.

I really don't know how she does it (and I suspect there have been many a private meltdown behind the scenes). Because I really could see how it would harden even the softest person.

Like, how does one receive "love" genuinely with the knowledge that just one unsubstantiated headline or trending topic or Jaguar Wright video lol could have the very same person spewing hate my way out of a jealousy/inferiority complex spurred on by the very things they love me for? WTF!

She's a billionaire and the pros for sure outweigh the cons, but it must be a lot and I gauge that the one way to make it not affect (as much) is to not participate "as much" (aka scale back). First it was the interviews, then it was her general visibility, now it's music videos. I can't be convinced that this Jay thing won't drive her/them a bit more private/insular. Not because of guilt or wrongdoing but moreso mental and star preservation.

Yes but their opinion doesn't matter and clearly he didn't care about their judgment since he's the one who went public with it.

The same people also already decided that she killed countless women, faked her pregnancy, is Solange's mother, bleaches her skin etc. And they were all already convinced that she was involved in Diddy's case and transactions of children. They can think whatever they want.

if you stopped thinking about charts & streams...maybe it might be a little more clear

Ok now what? Tell me why someone would sign on to PERFORM AT AN NFL SHOW if they didnt want their music to be BOOSTED and STREAMED?

Well sis, she performed at the SB in 2016 and didn't want the song she performed to be streamed or sold.

This is Beyoncé. She is performing because she wants to present her art the way she wants to and when she wants to. That's what she evolved into in the last years. We have countless examples supporting this.

You lot are too defensive for your own good—this a forum for fans of Beyoncé to discuss her art and impact, the latter of which includes tracking the progress of her art on charts. That's ok. We love BEYONCÉ not Jojo Siwa. Not everything is about the charts but they're a big part of Beyoncé's brand and legacy, and ensure she is able to book venues and gigs like the Christmas Show. It's ok to care, and you're not better for claiming you don't. So please calm down lol.

anyway…Beywatch hasn't cracked 1m on YouTube despite being the closest we have to a music video from this entire trilogy era. And while you pretend to not care, that will be driving convos at Parkwood as to how to proceed with the visuals, and will affect the prices that streamers offer them to buy them.

lets use our brains x

I'm good over here boo.  Hun, it's you who keep typing paragraphs about how much you care about the charts and pretending to be a business trend guru or impact analyst. Take your own advice pipe it down and simply enjoy the show. Life is so much better when you focus on the art. Beyoncé's legacy is fully in tact. Go outside and worry about your own.

I didn't rewatch the full ST visual yesterday but did revisit her 2014 and 2016 performances. Both masterclasses even though I think 2014 still takes the win for me :gayoncecat2:

2016 medley is so much better sis, the camera work alone is award worthy. But 2014 is special since she was able to cover most of the alberm and not just a few sings.

I mean not really. The cinematography during Formation was egregiously bad. It's my theory as to why she's never uploaded it

It just sucked that Prince couldn't hand Bey her first AOTY award. Just earlier this year Spielberg presented Nolan with his first Oscar best Director and I wish the same master/student scenario could've happened that night.

It's her fault people check out of the CC era, I find it almost LAUGHABLE that she thinks putting on a performance 8 months later is.... needed for any reason? Like, this NFL show is literally pointless lol. The boost will likely be almost nothing, I just wonder what the thought process is?

It's just a statement. Much like performing Formation during halftime was. She will prove just how country she is with extra growls and sing it y'all's.

Slightly controversial view...

(We listen and we don't judge lol)

I do not particularly care for either of the VMA 2014/2016 performances.

They are technically "good"...afterall it's Beyonce. But, as a Day 1 fan, they feel comparably lo-fi and only heated up mid-way through in both instances.

Like, I appreciate them more in concept and brazenness (like who performs their whole album on an award show?) than actual execution.

Heading into Halftime, I definitely want the format to be more along the lines of her other Halftime's and/or Homecoming.

This woman has unimaginable wealth.  The kind that has set up her descendants for generations.

She's proven herself time and time again, and is one of the best selling artists of all time.  She is not concerned about getting 50k more sales of an album - she wants to be in the pantheon of the all time greats, who people remember and talk about.  She wants people to say "Remember when we watched Beyonce at half time on Christmas?" the way they still talk about her Super Bowl performances every single year.

There are artists who are selling more than her right now that people won't even remember existed 60 years from now.  She is not one of them.
