I think it might be time to adjust expectations for a “colorful” era. Besides the clothes, even the Vogue shoot is dark (with mostly black or blood red backgrounds).

That’s not a nipple.

this reminds me of the scene from Boomerang when they’re trying to figure out if they can see Grace Jones’ nipple.

ya i don't expect colours at all, from what we've seen of the site/design/single cover and yes the Vogue (colours are accentual not the focus) also BREAK MY SOUL doesn't sound colourful to me. It's almost industrial in simplicity and tone.

I feel the club aspect of the music will come through in darkness plus bits of light and colour.

Oh then my bad. It looked like a nipple to me because of the shadow.

It's a beautiful photo but as an album cover, I would want that as a poster in a magazine but it's a bit much as a cover to me. It also doesn't scream joy or full of color like my cheesy self likes. Her body is snatched nevertheless! She looks surreal.

This serves DIL tbh her mind :jonny:

4 still remains my favorite cover :jonny:

I love the concept. Not sure about the hair and makeup, but it'll grow on me. I love that she looks like a barbie though, it's very intriguing and #edgy

Cover is a major serve, what’s wrong with y’all kiii

But what says joy like color? Like smiling? There has to be color. Color makes you laugh, dream and rejoice. Darkness is the opposite of lifting spirits.

Ya’ll really like the 4 album cover?!
…That’s my least favorite cover. Her hair looks a mess.

i think all that colorful stuff is too on the nose, corny, & predictable....I think Beyonce is going for a more adult, sophisticated, night club/lounge vibe

FWB is mostly dark (aside from the desert scenes), and find that video to be fairly joyful.

From her caption, I think she’s moreso speaking to the joy you feel from being free and safe to be who you are. Like an internalized joy from being confident and feeling sexy (on the dance floor).

not much does, I suppose, but I'm saying I don't think she's trying to embody joy with this cover, but the idea of something coming back, returning.

in a sea of darkness, there appears Beyoncé, glowing in silver and ice, sitting atop a horse. it's like an apparition, something magical and enticing, rather than her being like "YOU READY TO DANCE HIVE?!!"

I personally would find it a bit clichéd if she made a dance album and then made the cover intensely colourful. That's more 2012 than I think the sound of BREAK MY SOUL is which is very clean and concise.

If you think about 1990s club culture, it may be colourful, but the backgrounds are dark, moody, industrial. And her Vogue shoot does a good job of reflecting that. Here I believe it's less about being a reflection of mood or sound than an iconic stamp of the era.

This! I love that she’s not being so

literal. Also, when house music emerged, most of the clubs were small, dark, and dingy but people still found joy in the music and lively atmosphere.

4’s covers at least made me feel something by looking at it. This is just plain and stoic, idk. Hopefully there are alternates ??

This.

Not feeling the hype around wanting colors. I love this sleek look. It’s sophisticated and futuristic.

As a whole the cover is interesting and cool. However, the black background is so overused. Is there an interpretation as to why the horse is with electricity or whatever that is?

Honestly when I think about early 90’s house music, in my mind I see a palette of black, grey, and white, silver.

How do we actually know this is the cover and not a promo shot?

Yeah I’m def not expecting colorful avant-garde aesthetic at all. Its very clearly going to be more glitz and glam.

I can get being ok with no color, but these facial expressions aren't giving joy and freedom either. It's been the same "bad *****" face for awhile now. All I'm saying is that sis can at least look happy. It's one thing to say it, it's another thing to look it.

Unless we're getting dark ages renaissance. But again, I need to see a performance or MV to at least get the vibe she's really going for.

probably with the "tech" vibe she's gone with for the typeface so far, and the rumoured VR elements.
