i think i posted it here, or in the BREAK MY SOUL thread, but I shared what I expected for the fashion this era and cited the 1980s/early 1990s use of a lot of slick grey and silver and black in the more sophisticated designs as a point I think she'll reference.

even in the vocals of BREAK MY SOUL, it's not really JOYFUL in the sense of exhuberant happiness but its like an informed sense of joy, a joy in your own empowerment, a joy for the moment, whatever it is, even if you're jobless, etc. you're looking forward and you're confident in yourself.

 

 

she's doing a lot with her voice in the runs and harmonies and the emotional touches she adds to it, but the vocals still remain kind of at the same level and tone throughout. i wouldn't personally say it's a colourful vocal performance like a Déja Vu or a One Night Only or a Sweet Dreams. It's more akin to a 6 Inch or ALREADY or Hip Hop Star, even.

Sure it’s not colorful like COAD but you can have a joyful and happy dance album without needing blues and pinks and yellows on the cover. The shimmery horse screams Studio 54 to me tbh. 

 

and even if you look at the COADF artwork...Madonna gave it color by wearing pink but black was still the base of everything

 

its giving dark night club....not Katy Perry

 

 

I think the video visuals could be super colorful so I like the the cover is more on the simple side.

 

if she could sell the self title album cover to me at this point anything can work.

Its been 11 years since she shown her face on an album cover. 
 

I just really think that anything that is VERY SIMPLE requires and asks us to think about the intentions. It's why my ST cover writeup became iconic and lampooned... becuase I really went into the details in ways people didn't think meant anything, but this is BEYONCÉ and at this point we know anything she does is not just to cut corners and be lazy. If she is only on a horse on a cover, there is a reason.

In less than 2 hours the cover reveal of RENAISSANCE has surpassed the likes of the announcements of Everything is Love, Homecoming and almost Lemonade.  It's about to become her most liked tweet.

I TOLD you ******* she was channeling Lady Godiva with that damn horse, the hints are so on point for this era.

 

I cannot wait to deep dive a bit more. 

Okay honestly her album covers have never been my favorite now that I'm looking at them, but they're all iconic.

 

DIL is still that girl, though. Not sure she'll ever top it.
