I was expecting more of her senior black dancers to return 

Some of them may have left of their own volition - didn't Dnay have a baby right around Coachella? It's one thing to be Beyonce and travel the world as a billionaire with kids, it's another to have a young child on a dancer's pay and no help. 

I thought dancers get paid fairly well idk why.

I'm so happy she's getting them ballads out the way first. I just wish...maybe she should adopt a new look as her own opening act. I don't want to critique much, having seen less than 10% of the show. lol

Can’t speak for everyone but sometimes its nice to see the evolution of the artist with their longtime dancers.

Beyoncé and Ashley splitting is giving Janet Jackson and Tina Landon or Madonna with Nikki and Donna.

 

Some changes are expected, but over years, some dancers build their own fanbases withing a Fandom. Ashley danced with Beyoncé since B'day, it's perfectly normal for people to feel a way about her departure. 

 

I'm glad Beyoncé has hired male dancers as well on this tour. I already prefer it to Formation tbh. More camp and colorful.

Watched the live stream and starting to see more HQ. So many emotions!

 

The GOOD

 

Firstly, what a joy to see Bey BACK! On a few fronts too. 

 

Not going to even bother being PC, so will say outright that I was elated to see her back in fighting shape. I've followed this woman since the literal beginning and she always takes an athlete-like approach to her performances which often requires a certain aesthetic to execute. She seemingly did away with that for a min (OTRII and BIK) and it was FINE. But it was a pleasant surprise seeing her looking like early her. She looked sensational. 

 

The show is BIG and heavy on the theatrics, which I expected at this stage of stardom and age too. So love that she's diving into the opulence of her queendom more. It's befitting. 

 

Knowing that she basically has a WHOLE new creative team (not just the dancers, but choreographers etc too), it was cool to see her set sail on that journey and I'm excited to see how that all marinates and grows moving forward.

 

The NOT SO SURE YET

 

Won't beat about the bush, sis HAS to dance more. HAS to. Not sure about the foot thing, but I hope whatever is going on fixes itself as the tour progresses.

 

I'm actually fine with her not dancing "as" much and high-key expected it, as she's been scaling back right before our eyes subtly since FWT (punching in with high-energy choreo when needed). BIK was a huge indicator. but this was TOO dialed back. 

 

Key moments like the Heated outro require AT least some choreo. A body roll...a something lol. Cuff It not having any discernable choreo is crazy too. I clocked the dancers did the viral dance and she...didn't. Like c'mon. I kinda feel the same about BMS, but she can kind of get away with that being an jump up and down thing.

 

Much as I like that she has a new team, big parts of what made prior choreo so iconic were the obvious-yet-genius plays for a viral moment. Cute 15-30 second POW moments + moves that would have social media going crazy. I didn't see much of that. The moves (themselves) felt kinda "dancing because that's what you do to fast music" rather than anything that gagged me. I admittedly need to see more of the show to commit to this stance though. Hopefully, I'm proven wrong. 

 

Randomness

 

Wow at her including so many clear scenes from the visuals. I don't buy that they are scrapped, as that lil shade she threw makes clear that they are still a ""thing". But I'm more convinced than ever that something very big went awry behind the scenes. Either reshoots or media partner changed or is changing. Maybe they are using the tour hype to shop the best deal. Whatever the case, it's wild to me that she is pre-empting some of what we'll see with the tour. Or maybe those scenes are scrapped and now being used for tour interludes? Who knows.

I feel like Dnay said she was going to stop dancing to focus on motherhood. It's been a while since I watched Homecoming all the way through, but I'm pretty sure that's what she said.
