I believe she's no longer going to do award show performances. Maybe some random in the future, but certainly not at the Grammys. A couple of days/weeks some guy said in an interview that she wouldn't do Be Alive at the Oscars, if it wasn't for him. He claimed that B said that she doesn't do that anymore. I don't really remember what was said, put I think I got the point. I'm starting to believe she's done. I can understand her

 

Also, I hope she continues submitting to the Grammys. She'd get much more awards, at least in the R&B categories and she'd secure her records. She'd keep on proving she was done wrong. However, she might stop showing up since there's nothing new for her there. She reached the top, and now she's got a chance to be petty

I totally agree, i don't think we should expect any award show performance from her in the future. I kinda get it why as well.

I really didn't expect her to win AOTY, so I am not upset at all. Outside of the fact that a black woman hasn't won in a long time, Renaissance is too left field to won such a general award. AOTY would be cool but she's still Beyoncé. 

Also she should always submit!!

No, Renaissance won an album category. All songs are void next year except for ROTY, she can get into Music Video and Music Film but that would imply visuals.

I think the problem at this point is Beyonce is known quantity. That's the impression I got from those anonymous voters and their comments. They see her name and they're like "oh her again. Anyway...."

 

We assume voters are objectively listening to the music itself to determine the winners, when in reality lots of these voters seem to make their most of their decision based off looking at the artist, song/album and if they've heard of it, and then the list of credits.

You're allowed to submit live versions of songs afterwards I think. That's how Adele and GaGa won best pop vocal for Set Fire to the Rain and Joanne despite the original versions of those songs being released prior to the eligibility period.

I’m confused about the Europe thing. I clicked on the link and was able to reserve tickets for Club Renaissance in Germany . I’m not going just wanted to try. I thought you would need a code since it was the Beyhive presale or it would just be more difficult/expensive in general

The best way to intellectualise it is that most of the people in this base totally dismissed Beck's album "Morning Phase" because its not their thing. Even if they listened to it in full, they would probably be bored to death. The album however is acclaimed and loved by people who listened to alt & soft rock. A lot of Grammy voters are traditionalist and straight male. Regardless of respect, their votes are really personal preference based on tastes & ideals.

Unlike music critique which is often to given to genre specialists or people expert in dissecting music within its context and craft, most Grammy voters will just do it based on the whims of their taste and feelings. It's really not confusing when for the last few years all the AOTY are mellow, midtempo, almost linear genre pieces which satisifies a cerain palatte. Beyonce always wins specialist categories because it puts her music in context of other work the voters don't care for
