Who has given these criteria??

Ive said it a million times but Beyonce will always have a hard time because she is too adventurous with genre for the average listener. Not just Grammy's wise but also where the GP is concerned. As much as we love her bold, Avant Garde ass... The average Grammy listener preferers easily digestible mono genre music then an album that is disco/afro beats/hiphop/trance/house etc...

The thing that all of the listed albums have in common is that they are linear adult contemporary. This nothing to do with Bet personally and everything to do with the demographic base of Grammy voter's. Harry was a fairly obvious pick, I'm sure my Dad would also pick his album over Rennaisance :deadvision:

Very that

I also don't think her lack of performance has anything to do with being awarded or not.

Typically her tour announcements have followed her performances, not the other way round. Through all that presale madness & hype something told me that's she's just gonna sit back and be elusive, instead of giving a taster at the Grammy's.

fingers crossed for news on the visuals in the next week or 2

this is a very solid explanation actyally! i had never realized that the grammys almost always sent with the AC choice, now that i think of it the past few years have literally all been adult contemporary leaning records :deadbanana4:

You guys gotta stop acting like it's personal versus the board just being boring in taste and flavour. The Grammy's is not a critic award.

I think it becomes a bit personal when it's the 4th time.

anyway RENAISSANCE is AOTY and also album of the decade so far. easily. Recording Academy doesn't take that away from us.

Tbh, most people really dont care that much. If you look at the headlines for the Grammys, Beys historic 32nd win is highlighted, not her losing AOTY again. So its kinda whatever for the GP who are very unaware of these things.

The story of the night is definitely that she was robbed. She seemed to expect it, at least. The voters outside of genre fields do not like her. There are way too many people anonymously speaking to news outlets about how they're voting for randoms off of image and/or disdain for Bey, not quality, which is ironic considering the narrative on here is that her image is why she gets so much love.

I truly don't think she'll ever get AOTY

To think that IASF was her closest chance to win AOTY should say a lot. I hope she ignores them for good after this.

She knew she wasn't going to win though. Look at her IG post...

Either way, I sensed that POTS was her fave on Renaissance.

I mean the fact that IASF was nominated says too much, I'm sorry. Lovely singles, beautiful singles...

Its honestly whatever. Who cares, she has most wins and thats about it.

Grammys are a racist Institution as can be seen in many different occasions. As frustrating it is that she gets shut down whenever having to compete with white contemporaries, its cute to see a BLACK WOMAN having most Grammy wins.

Grammy voters are not a singular board who all sit on one table and debate, and fall on one decision. It's a bunch of individual decisions. 95% of them do not care how many times she's lost or been nominated. Nor should they.

Not sure if it's just me (and I absolutely LIVE for whenever Beyoncé gets her flowers), but the amount of circle-jerking they did throughout the entire broadcast was cringe-inducing. :rip: Yes, the whole "Beyoncé is Queen" monster grew organic legs of its own and has molded her branding for the newer generation, but it's now laid on so thick and unnecessarily, that it's almost begun to follow her around like a curse over anything; to the point where every small thing she does is now overblown to a preposterous degree (see: Dubai).

It's not as much of a wonder to me why it's begun to turn people off. The Grammy presentation was a bit obnoxious.

It was SO awkward. She's over it and so is everyone else. It's cheap applause bait that doesn't work anymore; when Trevor mentioned her at the beginning, everyone was visibly turned off by the over the top praise.

It's not even her fault. When Lizzo started praising her, she was literally asking her to stop by waving her arms around.

Totally agree that its not a corporate agenda (ie the GRAMMYS vs. Bey), but the voters don't like her. The 75 year old who mixes one song a year and has membership thinks she's a ***** that throws her ass and can't sing. I really think the narrative in the industry is that she has enough, why give her more?

Sad that she lost but it hurts that Billie and Harry got AOTY before her.

When was the last time we had a VOCALIST got AOTY? The last few years had been won by artists who can't sing on key except maybe Adele.

She looked so glowing and gorgeous tonight:heart: But most importantly, she looked really happy!

I'm trying not to be too salty about Harry's win... I actually really like him as an artist but the fact he can't even sing on key during his own performance and then gets AOTY for a mediocre album... the RIGGERY

what a night

Whew at the Grammys. It's shocking, while being totally not shocking, yet somehow still shocking.

As someone who has NEVER believed the academy vote being solely what determines who wins (the adjustment panels are well-documented), I always felt any kind of AOTY snub would be wilful, deliberate, and message-sending. And...they did it...again.

Part of why they are so predictable is because since this new regime came in, they've been doing a lot of frontwards facing "changes" to present the image of not being the "bad guy". It's not coincidental that in recent years, the winners list has "conveniently" given this air of "something for all" rather than the clean sweeps that used to be all the rage. They've also gone heavy on surprises in the main categories, like Jon Batiste winning last year and this year having both the SOTY and ROTY being surprise winners. Put simply, they are making TV and IMO ensure both the actual winners and where the wins are placed on the broadcast...tell a story. In Bey's case, a story that distracts from the mess.

All BS.

Forreal forreal foreeal, she needs to stop submitting now. Quietly do a Weeknd. It'll sting them ultimately. Don't perform etc. Look at the wackness Harry did on that stage and THAT's what they are rushing to reward? They made their bed, let them lie in it. The upside of this is that SHE is still her, the celebritiy's celebrity. Come next year, the year after that, the year after that, they'll be begging her to attend (speak less perform) and they will have diminishing returns.

I don't even want to see think-pieces about the voting academy because if the powers that be there wanted her to win, they'd have bended it to ensure she did.

They've BEEN cutting their nose to spite their face and they are still doing it. There now have an irreparable face.

I really wish she'd stop indulging them. I get that it was an aspiration for her growing up, but at this point they're practically mocking her.

I don't think she 'deserves' anything, but Harry winning over her is such a clear indication the race problem is still there. The voting body has resentment toward her cult of personality and the fact she's a Black woman that doesn't stay in the lane they want her to.

Literally no words….how on earth does the best Album in that lineup lose to….that :biblio:

Yeah just start quietly paying them dust. I still wish she would attend other award shows though, one thing I always like about the grammys is the celeb interactions we get with her and other people. The plus side to this mess is we finally got to see her be active and actually “talk” to us for the first time for this era.

Harry's House :gaycat6: people heard 2 singles and an Apple Music commercial and said "yup this is the album of the year"

right, I know how the show works. that doesn't mean individual choice makers cannot have any personal vendetta.

the voting members of the Recording Academy need so desperately to expand to include younger demos and people of color, and get rid of some of the dead weight old hags that barely even work in the industry.

I honestly dunno why she continues to pay them any mind after Lemonade’s injustice but I hope this is the last time see Beyoncé at the Grammys.

The downside to this though is that she’ll never appear at any award shows again

I'm super disappointed she didn't perform. The moment I saw she had changed into a new dress I knew it was over.

She's even worse than Prince now. I really don't see us getting anything outside of the tour or phone footage of ultra exclusive events moving forward.
