It’s not their fault she DEBUTED Apeshit on a tour night. Or dropped the album after tickets were bought. Or started incorporating non-singles like Summertime and Black Effect (she so crazy for that!) in the set list. 
 

I will never regret enjoying these songs alone, especially transcendent ones like Black Effect, but a whole stadium worth of hand waves and singing “higher higher higher higher” would have made my night.

Thank goodness Naughty Dog did what he needed to do in the UK. But the erasure is REAL. It’s easy for anti-charthive to disregard the GeePee not knowing anything off of EIL, The Gift, or Renaissance. But I want them to imagine playing CIL to a room of confused faces… that’s how I feel.  

right? I went on a road trip last week of december and i SO badly wanted to play a couple of songs from rena but it was crickets when cuff it came on shuffle (we were singing along to every other song that played before) it was so awkward. And mind you cuff it IS doing relatively well

 

she makes amazing music that SHOULD be smashing if she just put her damn ego to the side and go all out. You wont lower your celebrity by promoting Bey

don't you see whats going on the industry? artists, producers, songwriters...both young & old...some of the biggest hitmakers of our time are selling off their catalogues. why? cuz streaming doesn't pay **** at all. no one cares. only the Top 1% are likely making any money & even their royalty rates have taken a hit in comparison to what they could've grossed 10-20 years ago.

 

Beyonce is not doing back flips to make sure Spotify users keep her in the daily Top 10 (which is what this is really about) when its meaningless & yields no results. didn't she already address this? "if I gave 2 fucks about streaming numbers...i would've put Lemonade on Spotify....F***K YOU!"

Not to sound elitist (because we all occupy the same online space), but some really don't get that the streaming receipt brags and drags have little to no importance outside forums and stan Twitter. 

 

At the same time, streaming does have a degree of importance given how much sway it has over the charts . But I'd say it's more about streams of present music rather than catalog. 

 

One thing the complainers ought to remember is that Bey's audience is generally older (and trending older as time goes on). They don't stream as much, uphold her strong physical sales prowess, and sure as hell show up for her tours. It's all about...perspective. 

 

Bey is anomaly (in a good way) because she's managing to compete in the current climate (scoring #1s and top 10s) with her present music while benefitting in other ways by the established success of her catalog hits. 

 

Sure things could be better, but I'd rather take my wins with Bey where I can rather than try and measure her relevance, power, and popularity by the same metrics used for Ariana Grande and them girls. Context people, context.

Beyoncé is a 90s act that had her chart success peak in the 2000s when she went solo. That is reality. Like, you don’t see people saying MJ and Paul McCartney debuted when they went solo. It was with their groups 

I mean her streams aren't even bad. People are just listening to the haters too much. Other artists who came out around the same time as Bey can't even get their single to 50 million.

I guess I am over-estimating the casual fan, I just cannot imagine having tickets to see two artists (even if I bought the tickets on a whim) and then the artists release a new album and I don't listen to it. Obviously they were just coming to see Beyoncé and Jay-Z do their old hits, but the solution would be to release the album months in advance, promote it, release multiple singles, promote them, etc...which is just not something Beyoncé was going to do for this side project.

 

Anyway we are a bit different because I actually don't enjoy fans singing along at concerts. I pay to hear the artists, not fans screeching. A couple key lines, sure, but if people don't know "I CAN'T BELIEVE WE MADEEEE ITTT" then again, it's not Beyoncé's fault (other than releasing a joint album no one really asked for) because people knew Lemonade lyrics and multiple new songs were there from the very start of the FWT.

As for the catalogue selling, you are misrepresenting what is happening. Streaming does pay money, it just takes a while to get it. The firms buying the catalogues would not be throwing away hundreds of millions of dollars if they knew they would not be able to recoup that money with the same catalogs. Artists are selling because they would rather get the let's say $100M up-front now, than have to wait 20 years. Either way, they would still end up with the money so it's not really a streaming issue.

 

Beyonce's legacy is established whether she never has a hit again at this point. they didn't pay $24 million off the strength of Break My Soul. Beyonce doesn't have to keep up with anything in 2023 or going forward. her career is not fragile like that...once you get to a certain point in your career....your reputation and legacy carries you through & Beyonce is already there. her career is not in danger of hanging on by a thread based off each day she misses the Top 10 Spotify daily stats.

Maybe she’s hinting Flawless and Rocket are going to be in the dubai setlist?
