We were even told from the beginnig that visuals would come "at a later date". It's not her fault the Hive thought that meant ASAP.

 

And I can totally see some scenario where the acts (if they are albums) are released and THEN the trilogy of visual albums come out.

 

In some ways, this could miss the moment of maximum impact. In another way, it can be like a popular book being turned into a movie some time later. You have all these ideas and imagine what it might be like, so it's exciting to experience it "for the first time", again.

I can see that, too.

 

Would've been way more impactful/successful if she had chosen the series route and each Act would be a new season. 

Beyoncé intended to film just a few videos for The Gift but in that process realized she could/should film an entire film for it, then went about creating one instead of releasing individual videos, and then released it a year later as Black is King.

 

So...isn't it also highly possible that in making this visual album, and knowing what other material she to come (something not one of us knows), she might have pivoted or decided to take it into a new and/or better direction?

 

Beyoncé is clearly in a point of her career where its the output that matters first and foremost, NOT the commercial success. If that were not the case such simple things like no video or no performance would not have occured. So I just find it very weird that everyone always assumes she has no clue what she's doing and yet continually manages to come out with work either greater than, or rivaling her last.

We need to just sit back and relax and enjoy the brilliance she gives us...when she gives it to us. This base seems to be always in a state of turmoil and anger aimed at her and I wonder if anyone actually feels better because of it? At the end, it just comes off like that fan in the IAWT DVD who called her a ***** for not saying hi and then was seeing crying at her concert. I need most of you all to realize that we are not friends with these musicians. It’s a transactional relationship. They don’t owe us anything beyond music and you either subscribe to it or you don’t. They don’t need to tell us their every move or be “transparent”. Beyoncé has been going above and Beyond since she was a teen. Providing content upon content, promo, impeccable performances galore.  At this stage of her career she decides to do things at her own pace or maybe there was some mishap re the visuals hence the reason for the delay and this is causing turmoil why? For every era this woman has put her best foot forward in feeding us but we want to act entitled now cuz things aren’t going the way we want it to?  They stated that the visuals will come at a later date like what’s not clicking? Y’all need to just idk…. WAIT or move on. 
 

I’ve said this before and I’ll say it again.. all of this vitriol is tied to her being commercially appealing. Y’all want the numbers and stats to gloat outside of the base. I’ve seen too many arguments about “oh no one will care after a while”, “the novelty has worn off, the hype is gone”… I mean it’s nice if she has the numbers but it’s also ok if she doesn’t…

First, the Hive has been like this for years and it had nothing to do with a false promise of a traditional era. Since 2013, we've not once been promised such a thing.

 

The only happening in June that led to an impression of a traditional era was the Vogue shoot and having a release date for the album. Everything else, from the B7 "hints" to the IG bio single announcement to NO video to NO performance is a clear display of a very "hands off" approach. If the Hive (myself included) believed it would be otherwise, it was from wishful thinking not a huge amount of evidence stacking up to suggest a traditonal/promoted era.

 

 

If you're refering to me, which I think you are, I certainly don't think she's exactly at a 100/0 arts-chart split...BUT releasing a remix when your song is predicted to go #1 is FAR DIFFERENT from gunning for the #1 at the very start with a full-on promo campaign, performance schedule, music video release, immediate remixes, etc. Let's not forget BREAK MY SOUL was released on a Monday evening and CUFF IT despite its organic success has not had one remix in the nearly half year since its release and has not really seen more than a "CUFF IT SEASON" promo from her. Does this sound like someone who is even half-invested in the charts?

 

To imply believing that she's more invested in the art than the charts is "gaslighting" oneself while everyone else complains that she's not doing enough for the charts is really an odd stance to take. Either she's doing enough, or she's not.

I also think a lot of fans forget that she's already told us what she wants. And then they fault her for not fulfilling what they want. That whole thing about Nina Simone in the "quick lil singles" speech speaks volumes about her motivations now, and she is showing us time and time again that her focus is on personal legacy, not keepning up with everyone else.

I understand fans want both, but I do think 4 shook her a bit as the first time since her DC debut that the usual promotional tricks didn't result in a blockbuster era, and it is obvious that this is the moment she threw the Matthew Knowles handbook out and started completely fresh. She's literally never gone back to that style of existing in the pop industry since. Because actually, her goal was to become a legend, not a pop-icon, and one simply does not need hits to do that, ESPECIALLY when you have a career already full of them. And still, she's had several since 2011 too. And more importantly, even her non-hits have had huge impact in culture.

 

And as much as people hate on her "arrogant" persona or whatever, her approach (mixed with great works) has undoubtly fast-tracked her legend status and made her into one of those "goddess-like" ethereal icons such as a Sade that everyone at least kind of respects even if the music isn't their taste.
