! It’s absolutely a dance album. Dance is not limited to electronic music. All of the album is music you can shake your ass to except plastic off the sofa

I do miss the tumblr era. It's the only reason I used that site.

 

It felt like getting a real glimpse into her life compared to nowadays but still had that mystique about it.

I feel like you guys keep forgetting she has three kids now. Like i don’t think it means she’s gonna do less I think it just means everything is gonna take longer cuz she has to go do stuff for/with them in between her work schedule. 
 

but when it comes to the tour idk she can take them along and get a homeschool tutor for the road

Yeah, I think this is a good assessment of it. Lets see if the Grammies agrih 

Anyway, I honestly wouldn't care if she gets zero awards. Beyond the Grammies already exposing themselves, I'm actually just fully done with real art being compared and being made to compete against one another to be classed as the "best"... It's reductive. 

She really taught the grammy dance committee a lesson in dance music. What a boss!

Rennie is absolutely a dance album.

 

I would almost say it's genre-less. It doesn't really fit into any category.  It's a fusion of many sounds, and very experimental. 

It's definitely a multi faceted album. 

Renaissance has that Lemonade effect on multiple genres blending well together thats theres no actual parent genre.

She really needs to explore dance further

 

I want to see her work with TSHA, Kaytranada, Aluna, Uniiqu3, and work further with Bloodpop, A.G. Cook, Labrinth, and Skrillex. 

 

I'm really hoping Act II is another dance album

I agree. The kids thing is supposed to mean what exactly? That she's given up ambitious projects to stay at home and rest? Because we know that's not true. Renaissance is her most ambitious album to date and the visuals will match it. Also she shows up for IVP, Tiffany, and industry and social events. She's not Enya and she's not B.B. Homemaker. Maybe it's supposed to mean that she's just going to stay behind the scenes at all times. In any case, her and her team's approach to this era indicates seriously threadbare, out-of-date thinking. It's clear that they're trying to spin 2013 gold again and reinvent the mystique wheel but nothing is the same and that's not how it works anymore. They really kneecapped an entire era... to prove that she can keep charting at #6 without videos? idgi

 

I don't know about dance, but I absolutely want her to have some funk songs in one of the acts. Think Work It Out, her doing Higher Ground in the Stevie tribute. I'd love for her to sample Stevie actually, and Dev Hynes could do great in that type of songs too.

If only the world wasn’t so hell bent on putting every artist in one box we wouldn’t be having this discussion. She made a Dance album with some of the best Dance producers around, old (Nile, Giorgio) and new (AG, Honey, Skrillex) so she should compete in Dance. All these people if they had released these songs, they would’ve gotten in the category with zero drama. And now we have to fight the dance snobs

After reading the article from THR about the Academy’s dance voters, I wonder will they actually nominate Renaissance at all. Isn’t it called officially Dance/Electronica? I wouldn’t be surprised. Then, Imagine where does that leave her - only in the AOTY category. Hmm that might be a play.

I don’t think it truly matters tbh. It’s only the committee. They do not determine who the voters can vote for. They simply determine who is eligible for the category, so if the voters love Ren and think it’s Dance AOTY. It will be nominated/win. It’s different from 2016 where the Country committee flat out said she can’t get through the submissions cause she is gaming the systems. It seems like this is more of a debate on where it fit. They had a hard time deciding. They sent it to a higher committee and they said it’s eligible. 

I hope she has also submitted the album to Best Engineered Album. She has a real shot at winning that category with Renaissance
