you keep saying this....if Beyonce was as preoccupied with her body like you seem to be...we wouldn't even be in the midst of the Ren era right now in the first place. clearly like many other things in her life & career....starving to lose X amount of pounds for eras is not a priority. Imagine Renaissance getting the After Hours treatment.

Tbh I'm still surprised they submitted it to Dance. It's been shown time and time again genre voters aren't happy when someone crashes their party.

It's not even a race thing (past 2 winners of Dance Album have been black). Dance field just does NOT like mainstream pop girls "coming into their territory".

 

Submitting there was a risky move, I wish the Academy would've moved her to Pop (or Progressive R&B where I personally think album belongs if you look at their definition of the genre).

It should be in pop

Rightfully so IMO.

 

Most of the time, those who are nominated and win in that category are often overlooked, and get little recognition.  I think they restructured it in a way to help make sure they get their dues. 

When she restarts the era next year  

I dare say the majority of the album leans more heavily on contemporary RnB/Pop with Dance elements. The only songs I would consider heavier on the dance genres:
-I'm That Girl
-Cozy
-Break My Soul
-Thique
-Pure/Honey

I think submitting for Dance is a win situation for everybody. She lets R&B artists (the people she actually respects) not compete against her, she doesn’t go against Adele and Harry who are also from Columbia, and if she gets nominated that’s a category she never got in before. If she doesn’t it doesn’t matter because she only cares about general field awards at this point.

That would actually be nice. Then they would ACTUALLY get cancelled and her and Jay would join Drake, The Weeknd and Frank Ocean in not submitting their work. It would be the end for the Grammys as we know them.

I would include Alien Superstar and Summer Renaissance (!!!) as dance, but yeah.

 This is exactly how I would describe Renaissance. An R&B-Pop album heavily infused with Dance, not a Dance album infused with R&B-Pop.

my perception of "dance" album & what i think Beyonce intended to achieve was not about it being a standard EDM/House sound that ppl attribute to the "dance" genre. the album was meant to highlight all the various subgenres of "dance"...that's why Energy/Move (afrobeats), Cuff It (funk/disco), Church Girl (bounce), AHAP (hip hop/Miami bass), AUYIM (hyper-pop), etc are all included.

 

so that's why it's named a dance album
