  • It was the best concert of my life, bar none. Idc!    It was extraordinary, it was ineffable.  I knew I loved it based on the videos but I... Hey I don't know.    Best moment

I know this award is a joke but the point is, she has cemented herself in history with the likes of Whitney and Lauryn. And on top of that she won an award for a genre that completely ridiculed and ex

Do we think something has gone wrong with the visuals and that's why she's holding out? Or is this all part of another plan?

I'm really struggling to understand  :toofunny3:

The way she could've sent a bunch of prerecorded performances to different venues:

"Break My Soul: Live From Studio 54" to open the BET AWARDS.

"Break My Soul/Alien Superstar" live at VMA's from 'whatever secret location"

"Plastic Off The Sofa/ Virgos Groove" - Tiny Desk.

"Pure/Honey", "Break My Soul", "Alien", Cuff It" - VEVO Lift

Why perfect the pre-recorded performance style for Oscars and not for your actual album work. Babygirl is Tripping....I've been stanning since literally BDAY but Ms Mama come on. :jonny6:

The fact that she sings “I wanna go missing” in Cuff It

And talking about she’s outside in BMS

Beyoncé is too good to ever do Tiny Desk. :lmao:

What does "too good" mean, in relation to Tiny Desk? It's a fantastic platform that has been utilised by so many artists, established and upcoming. It always gets great reviews, well loved...

I hate that she was quicker /more responsive to haters /critics (spaz, removing Kelis milkshake) over the fans this era

Highly unlike Beyonce to do this.

Now, this I totaaally agree with.

I'm very much of the opinion that sis at capacity in terms of what she's willing or wanting to give at this stage of her career (timewise and promo wise). I also feel she still understands the importance of her showing up as "BEYONCE" (with all the perfection and expectation that comes with) when the occasion calls for it.

That's why those pre-recorded performances would have (and still could) be amazing. It's essentially gaming the system (e.g. highly edited and effectively being a hybrid of "live" performance and music video). But with enough savvy marketing, that fact would go over most people's heads. Just like the Oscars. All that "live from Compton" ish IMO was more about her being able to pre-record and perfect her performance (and look) rather than some sort of grand gesture to the area. Again, to the GP it was the type of extra they want/have come to expect from "Queen Bey" and tied in with the movie so it worked.

If she's hell bent on doing less while preserving the perfection her brand is known for, I'd gladly take that happy medium of pre-recorded performances. Remember all that talk of her and Jay scouting major world landmarks for those EIL videos that never happened (like the Colosseum)? That would be epic for such performances. "Beyonce...performing live from the Empire State Building"..."Beyonce takes over the Brooklyn Bridge"...."Queen Bey slays at Buckingham Palace". It works.

I get both takes.

She would easily be the biggest "get" for a lot of these platforms. Tiny Desk, Carpool etc. But she also somehow preserves her "upper echelon" by slaying without the need to appear on them.

At the same time, as "premium" positioned as she is, I don't think she "loses" anything by engaging with some of these platforms. I'd just expect her to do what she always does...which is do them on her terms. So something like "Parkwood & NPR Present a Renaissance Tiny Desk Concert" with some kind of twist that sets it apart from everyone else would be great.

I think it’s meant that Beyoncé performances are typically a production. Tiny Desk just isn’t suited for that, and Beyoncé has blown past singing acoustic versions of her songs in a cramped setting like that, in terms of celebrity status. Between DIL-IASF, it wouldn’t be far fetched but from 4 on, no way in hell. That’s just not her anymore.

Well she can go back to one acoustic performance, that would be a nice change. She gives big productions all the time now, a more stripped performance would stand out.

I think it's a missed opportunity from her to not do more acoustic performances like that. She doesn't need to do it on the Tiny Desk set. A lot of artists still utilise other sets for it.

Tiny Desk has evolved a lot during the pandemic with Tiny Desk At Home. Chloe & Halle per example had a full band and a full orchestra and a highly decorated set

Truth on a wonderful Sunday:

Bey wont do free performances like that because she believes that her art needs to be paid for. Shes that arrogant, trust and believe.

Thats why I dont understand why shes not even doing sth like that Studio54 set that Dua Lipa did.

True. I could see something like this later in the era. Towards the middle or end. A fresh push and fresh twist on material we've sat with for a while.

We of course don't know what the other acts are giving, but Ren is too grand sonically for acoustic performances to lead the performance push. Not sure what her overall game plan is, but I'd bet we'd get the big/all-out showing before she strips it back.

It's one of the reasons that as much I gagged at the idea of those rumored pop-up shows, I started to clock that the heavy Dance component of the album  makes the prospect of anything live without the all-out bells and whistles a little...unlikely.

The slightly annoying part of these cool concepts and Bey being so promo-avoidant is that things like Tiny Desk and stripped back pop-up shows would have actually worked pretty well with the more analogue/slower sounds of  ST and Lemonade.

Shes not going to do live performances aside from a Grammy one potentially.

I, for one, am just hoping for a paid set a la Duas Studio 2054 at this point. Thats the max we'll get

the truth is that Beyoncé is now a mom of three small children and is only ok with doing touring, brand deals and her usual albums & visuals :coffee2:

y’all need to realise that she is in a new chapter of her career :coffee2:

Her silence this era is ENDING me :bibliahh:

It's actually crazy... I honestly can't belive it... Makes me scream as well tho, she really doesnt give a single **** :bibliahh:

She's not above promo. Everyone needs it.

Any platform would be great for times like these.

Ya’ll complaining about not performing and then saying she is above all the shows :deadbanana2:

The silence is grating without a shadow of doubt, but what confuses me is how some stans allow that frustration to melt into the idea that she's literally doing nothing. Like she's casually on vacay (beyond Bday) or chilling on the sofa at home.

Camp Bey are almost certainly in deep post-production, readying the tour announcement, and lining up everything up. It's far from ideal, but I just can't bring myself to meltdown with the knowledge we have. And I can't see why others are when we have a successful era on our hands so far (all things considered).

We have a teaser trailer, so it's clear something around the visuals is imminent-ish. I agree with whoever mentioned that the Queen Elizabeth ish may be halting any announcement. The news wire, even in America, is that and only that. Bey won't want her ish flying under the radar.

Again, very frustrating to not know specifics yet, but we know it's coming. Which is more than we got for BIK and any of her other visual album drops (outside of ST which we saw her shooting).

I'm personally reserving any "she shoulda done xyz" until we get the visuals. If they work standalone, then yeah, a wig tug may be mandatory for the present absence of BMS, Cuff It, or AS. But if it's some genius idea that primarily works as a body of work (i.e. like the Netflix series we've discussed) and doesn't lend itself to being preemptively premiered, then I respect it and respect her for sticking to her guns.
