In the same way Beyoncé is competing with legends and ghosts, Taylor is now competing with her elders. Neither of them really have peers anymore. But that is where the comparisons end. Taylor is a 32 year old skinny blue-eyed blond who has and will always have more reach than Beyoncé because of her genre(s) of music. Beyoncé is a black woman making R&B and pop music, and her pop is not Taylor’s pop. 
 

They are only compared because they are at the top of their field. But they appeal to completely different people. It’s like comparing Garth Brooks and Usher.

These two things for sure. Her pulling out this gold card and giving this speech for winning the Best Urban Contemporary Album was enough acknowledgement that she knew she wasn't winning AOTY.

 

I didn't like this move by Adele at all. You win a Grammy and put the spotlight on the pregnant woman who lost to you? who does that? her pathetic speech didn't move me at all. I'm glad Beyoncé is not personally friends with these clowns, always trying to use her name for some crap. Like take your award and go. Who cares about your big speech about why she should win a Grammy? Beyoncé will never feel bitter about another artist winning, her problem is the system being run by people who play inside politics. It's never about the other artists winning, she respects artistry and would never hold anything against other artists. 

 

If only she could pull a Drake and not submit at all to the Grammys that would be awesome. I just dont want to go through that circus with Adele again. Sadly i know she will submit to support the people she worked with on this album. A damn shame.

Yeah those things do more harm than good imo. It just brings a lot of unnecessary press to things. Instead of it being about Adele winning, it becomes about Beyoncé losing. It's the same with the whole Kanye and Taylor situation at the VMAs.

Exactly, and what was that for? What was the aim? If anything, it felt terribly awkward putting all that unnecessary pressure to a pregnant woman on a live televised show. 

 

It's one of the reasons why I can't stand that ***** at all.
