really interesting to see all the love for eternal sunshine in here, cos i really like it whenever i put it on but also it's sort of gotten a bit lost for me - possibly cos i've only really started listening to her a lot during the past three years and so i was always catching up with other records - so when that came out i was kinda "oh this is great too!" but then there was still a lot of other stuff that i hadn't fully absorbed at that point.

i think it's one of her most consistent records, but also without necessarily having a lot of obvious standouts (other than we can't be friends)? it's all about the narrative and so tends to be a lot less about individual songs for me (i do really like true story but i know that i'm largely alone in that)

actually the ones i come back to most are yours truly, just cos it's such a ridiculous candyfloss blast, and thank u next because it's the complete opposite, really dark and nihilistic at times but also with this sense of warmth and solace across a lot of the best songs (the title track obvs, but also, fake smile, ghostin etc), it's a real in-depth record (as is eternal sunshine in its way) and i love that she can really do both and they're both amazing.

and also, massively lookin fwd to having a new ariana grande record in my life! there's no one whose music i love so much and want to hear so often as hers

was thinking about getting it but it's a hardcover and quite expensive, doesn't look like there's a paperback version coming (tho i haven't looked that hard).

read the george griffiths book about her which wasn't bad but was a bit lightweight (he's a copywriter for the uk charts website), quite a fun style but the worst thing was probably how ass kissing it was, wasn't really prepared to get into any controversies about her (beyond maybe the donut scandal).

this looks a bit more substantial, joel calfee and maura johnston are both name writers at big magazines so i'd expect more from it

it's really difficult to find anything that takes a popstar like ariana seriously tho, obvs they're going to get into all the glam and stardom cos that's a big part of what she does but i might as well buy a stanpack from the supermarket for all the possibility of anyone doing some interesting writing about her

She sounds amazing on tour but honestly I'm worried about her health ,she looks painfully skinny . I know stans will just bully fellow stans for "commenting on her body" but some of these close up videos of her performing are very uncomfortable to watch when you see her as nothing but bones

The conversation around her physique is a catch 22 because on one hand, it's true there's nothing that fans themselves can do about it as they don't have proximity to her (I myself was saying this during the Wicked press runs). However, it is very hard to argue that the change is not jarring and so I understand that triggering concerned commentary (not including a lot of the faux concern wrapped in a ki like we saw during the Wicked press runs). I do know that the conversation does reinforce stuff in her mind differently though, if what's alleged is true

We will likely never have confirmation and that's her right but I also don't think that a lack of it absolves that something is clearly going on I just hope she makes it out the other side bc it is sad

yeah, i'm torn between wondering if i need to be concerned and also being extremely loathe to wade into it in a serious way online given the kind of weird stuff i see out on tumblr etc where people seem to be just using it all as a stick to beat her with in a really mean spirited way ("she's glamourising ED's! if you listen to her then yr complicit!" ffs)

i don't think commenting on celebs' personal issues on social media ever made anything any better but fwiw i wish her the best if she's struggling
