TOTC: Dynamite back to #1

They only reason they’ve put out 10 remixes of the same song in a month is literally to manipulate the charts. It’s annoying when anyone does it but this is just overkill.

Billboard needs to remove D2C sales from the Hot 100 at this point; the new Global charts don’t include them for a reason

Well, Dynamite are #2 on billboard global chart 200 & #1 on Billboard Global chart excluding US, all those achievement without D2C sales .

and Dynamite is their biggest Hit in South Korea as well

without those remix, Dynamite still the biggest and the most global song from K-pop group, that’s a fact. :sistrens:

Not directed at BTS, but Billboard really should limit how many versions of a song can count for the original version's total numbers. I'm surprised it's not a rule already.

This seems logical but we must not forget this is a business too.

I honestly think they purposely let these scams and stunts go on so that it creates controversy and buzz and then when they make changes they look like good guys.

Also, it exposes the artists desperate for the charts so they kind of kill 2 birds with one stone.

I get their strategy...even if I don't agree with it but it does make sense for them to keep relevance.

The fact that less than 10% of the sales sum are actual digital sales :rip: where do their fans find the money to continously buy the same website bundles over and over?

their overseas fans are sending thousands of dollars to american fans so they can keep buying the song (and the 50 remixes) again and again :rip: a mess

BTS has 30M monthly listeners on Spotify and Dynamite spent an entire month in the top 4 on Global Spotify

So yes, many people outside their fanbase know the song

bad guy

This isn’t the Global 200 this is the Hot 100. And I guarantee you will not find a single person outside their fanbase in the states that know what this song is.

It's #13 on US Spotify a month after release, so again clearly many people outside their fanbase know the song

I read that they are collecting money from stans around the world to manipulate a US based chart with mass buying with multiple accounts. Literally a fraud because it doesn't represent the popularity of the song in the US.

But I blame more Billboard than the stans because they are the ones allowing the fraud so whatever.

Sales, streams and airplay are all metrics used for Hot100 charting. Some songs have low sales but tons of streams thus chart very well, some have tragic sales and streams but radio stations keep it aloaft. Don't get mad cuz of fans buying music or at least keep the same energy for songs with little to no sales and tragic streams but +50M audience impression. How is a powerful fanbase paying for music considered manipulation of the charts, it just shows how popular the group is, BTS can sell out stadiums across the US, something that what you call "popular artists among the gp" can't do. I wish people were this passive-agressive about radio having way too much weight on the charts cuz that's actually the least reliable metric of actual audience interest

Period :clap3:

BTS not letting their foot up of these girls’ necks...whew! :lmao:I might have to stan, for the pure fact of them ****ting on ATRL :rip:

This, i thibk Dynamite is unlistenable due to the overautotune. But give them the credit.

Not too many artists can do stadium across the US nowadays. You can count them all with one hand

One thing I admit is how rabid their fanbase is like buying basically the same 85558 times, yeah I know they are remixes but at the end is almost the same song so kudos to them :clap3:

Oh no! The world doesn’t revolve around the taste of white gays on atrl!!

The song is still a hit regardless  :foxaylove2:

Well without Army’s, US music industry will never see a 265k digital sales, and 300k total first week sales again,

and Dynamite might be the only song to break 1 Million pure digital sales this year.

at least untill Adele drop some song.:sistrens:

no matter where the money come from, it’s a legit purchase from US Army’s with real money.

Also other fanbase doing the same trick but only ended up to sell like 23k copies first week:gaycat5:

Billboard will probably limit the number of versions which count towards 1 song if this keeps going on.

I mean didn't they change the rule back when J.LO's "I'm Real" remix hit #1 and there was a lot of backlash as it was combined with the album version (the one with more airplay at the time) as it was 'too different' from the original so after that remixes which differ a lot from the original had to chart seperately? So a rule change is possible.

That's because the remix and original for I'M Real were literally two different songs with the same name. Just like Mariah used to do back in the day

As long as majority of the song is the same, it will count

People need to stop acting as if this song is SOLELY doing good sales wise. No song by a Korean artist has ever done so well on the Spotify US chart. It's been a whole month and it is still sitting at #13.

I'm just glad Holy is not debuting at #1 :gaycat3:  hopefully it drops hard after this week :duck::duck::duck:

Lol well I think BB knows exactly the fanbase strategies, but like some users mentioned,  it probably helps them

avoid fanbase lash-out. Can you imagine if WAP keeps topping the chart despite Army bulk purchasing and streaming,

the massive backlash on social media they will receive from the rabid fan-base?  BB staff probably happy that

they dodged a big bullet, though whether chart rules reform is up in the air.

Ultimately music industry is money-driven. If they can mobilize big sales then capitalists are happy, and fans

are happily being milked by their oppa.  But whether Grammy will acknowledge them is another story.

I mean, it ain't any worse than all of those streaming driven hip-hop songs that no one's ever heard of.

How do you say “streaming driven” and “no ones ever heard of” in the same sentence? :toofunny3:
