The real difference is one was in a year where many albums opened with that and more and sold more in the long run than her,  while Taylor is doing it in 2017 and is the best selling album of the year in 4 days

I’m happy for Taylor and there’s no denying her selling power. However, her and Adele just aren’t comparable on any level. Adele will remain a force whether she’s releasing music or not. Others have to constantly release music and can’t take too much of a break because their power will diminish.
