Britney was a worldwide phenomenon at her peak, not even comparable.

i am not surpised tho, Taylor stans are mostly 4-14 years old who haven’t had the honour to live through Britneys phenomal success and impact, so yeah.

Good for her tho, she is consistent on dishing out good material. :clap3:

I see your point, but Taylor is clearly a bigger MUSICIAN than Britney ever was, and Britney was clearly a bigger CELEBRITY.

Your argument is the same as saying Rihanna is bigger than Adele this decade.

It's Oops.

I have a feeling she’s gonna fall just short of 1989 once the final numbers come in. The week was really frontloaded

Taylors achievment is incredible but i would like to see Taylor release an album not in October/November.  Oops! was released in May when album sales are lower. I fully believe if Taylors’s past 4 albums were released in the Spring they wouldnt have sold as much.

:ahh:this has to be a joke.

anyone who thinks britney was bigger is delusional, her rise and fall all happened within a few eras. Taylor has seen a rise in first week sales 6 albums in a row and has opened with over 1m in the USA 4 times now :eatpopcorn:

Technically? Maybe. But i can bet a million dollars than in some years Taylor's songs won't be remembered/have long lasting impact while the same can 't be said for Adele. Don't get me wrong, i like Taylor's music but i find it silly that Taylor stans try to diminish Britney's achievements.

Gheys thinking Britney was bigger than Her. She needed only 2 DAYS to have the biggest album of the year, and yet they are still trying. In WW btw Taylor SMASHED everyone, haters are shook.

You're delusional if you really think Reputation is already the biggest album of the year. She isn't even close to topping Ed's 9m SPS. She won't ever top Divide's final WW SPS, not with Reputation, and not with any of her albums following.

Bookmarked.

Maybe Taylor can have her first Diamond album with Reputation! :clap3:

Her albums have been so frontloaded that she has yet to make it to Diamond certification but she might be able to do it this time! :duck:

At the moment, Reputation is a little behind because it recieved less pre-album SPS, but we'll see how it holds up in the months to come.

Why are y’all discussing Britney in this thread? :deadbanana:

Anyway, down to 1.34m? Katy really ended her!

Love Story (WW) and YBWM (US), along with other Taylor songs, are already remembered years after release so I don't see your point.

And anyway, why are you now comparing Taylor to Adele? I agree that Adele's music is more memorable than Taylor's, but we were talking about Britney...

Some people brought Britney up and Swifties think Army was trying to discredit Taylor when in reality most of them use her. :rip:

What song is this even. Stop it. Taylor's songs are probably more remembered in the US, but outside? Nah. I love to be proven otherwise, but I have never heard Love Story here in Europe.

I'm not sure why Britney was brought up either. Love Britney, but it's Adele's record and Taylor Swift will not come anywhere near it... I don't think she would have even gotten Adele's record if she bundled her tour  :2ndplace:

Taylor IS bigger than Britney at her prime.

She's also bigger than Adele.

And Britney did it in the year album sales peaked and just on that same year 3 different acts debuted with bigger sales than Oops :fan: (N'Sync, Eminem and Backstreet Boys)

Also with how much was Britney debuting 11 years into her career?

Exactly...

She did about half a million without any gimmicks :fan:

Taylor opening with 1.3m in 2017 is equivalent to opening with 5.9m in 2000 :jonny2:

And you really think that Adele would pull a 12m first week if she had released in 2000? :ahh:

It doesn't work that way.

OMG. This thread is a mess. :rip:

I'm a Taylor hater (but I'll still bop to her music), and even I can't say **** about this.

I was hoping she would only do like 800k, but :michael:

All we can hope for is a steep 2nd week drop now, and I don't think that will really happen.
