Which was the bigger flop: Bionic or Basic Instinct?

Both albums came out in 2010 and both eras completely fell apart, but which one do you think flopped harder?

I always go with Basic Instinct. Bionic had way more hype behind it and the backlash was much louder, but it still debuted at #3, topped the UK chart, and eventually went Gold in the US. At least "Not Myself Tonight" didn't get banned from BET like "Ride" did.

Basic Instinct just felt like it never had a chance. The label barely supported it, the era died almost immediately, and the sales reflected it.

Which one do you think was the bigger flop?

Idk but Basic Instinct nickname on OldTRL used to be "Basically Extinct" and i still can't with it

Basic Instinct did worse but was less of a shock as it didn't have a hit and Fantasy Ride was a huge flop too despite the hit lead single. Bionic essentially ended Christina's career, singles not doing good, album not making a dent anywhere, tour cancelled despite the previous one being a major success and having a big opening act...

Ciara got dropped by her label, so here's your answer. Even though, Ride became a Platinum single, it definitely didn't bring the expected numbers.

Ride is Platinum. I can't say the same about Not Myself Tonight.

I love Xtina... she is global. Miss Cici - I have no idea who that person even is.

Bionic tbh. Ciara got next to no label support, and it was released after a previous album that was sabotaged by the same label, thus she flopped. She also has RIDE from that era, which is an 2010's R&B classic if nothing else.

Christina had big promo; a decent budget and bombed on a bigger scale. So like… lol

Maybe fantasy ride vs Bionic would've been a more apt comparison. but I think that would win over bionic as well considering it has a top 10

Still mad that tour got canceled because it also overlapped with a bunch of concurrent events that ended Leona's career stateside

OT: Bionic felt like a bigger flop because she was following up a massive album … a larger fall from grace (like its second week in the UK)
