I'm not talking specifically about concert prices here (although they are part of it). We have dynamic prices for almost any type of tickets (airlines, train . entertainment tickets etc), accommodation (hotels, airbnbs etc), car rentals, ride-hiring (uber etc), online marketplaces (amazon etc). I just feel we got so used to them that it has become normal. And I see nothing normal in this. Why should someone pay 3x the price for the same airline ticket simply because they bought it at a different time? Why should two people standing at the same spot trying to get to the same destination see completely different prices for their uber rides based on some kind of tracking data? I understand the reasons for it from the business point of view, but most of the time it feels like it's done in bad faith only to benefit corporations. Certain variation in prices can be ok based on demand, but excessive price hikes and massive differences in price for exact same service should be unacceptable. Is there a way out of this?

Yes, it's one of the worst things Ticketmaster could ever allow. I get it... it costs a lot to run a show, but when your show is minimal, why are you bothering with dynamic pricing?

It doesn't have to be fair, it has to make $$$, as unacceptable it may seem. You have no alternative, what you're gonna do? They know it, you know it.

Of course there is a way out of it, just like there is a way out of our current situation involving the government, STOP SPENDING MONEY. Stop going to concerts, stop taking Ubers, stop shopping at grocery stores that use it. Stop anything. No one is forcing you to go to a Gracie Abrams concert.

This is easy to do for a concert but not so easy for other things.

Like for example to your grocery store example, many people don't really have a choice what grocery store they go to. There are thousands of neighborhoods and communities all over the country that only have access to one.

She doesn't have much of a say. Her label and investors are not going to miss out on the money because she feels bad for fans that cannot afford a ticket.

Make it illegal for them to do so? Capitalism was created by people, it is not the word of god, it can be changed and dismantled.

Yes, it needs to be regulated or limited otherwise they'll continue pushing the limits. Eventually you'll go into a grocery store and during busy hours everything will be more expensive. Or surveillance pricing where they keep your data and the price is based on how much an algorithm thinks you're willing to or can pay. It's already the case online on sites like Amazon.
