The song itself will probably cause the meltdowns, but that's a true Tinashe lead single experience

When Sweetees start talking streams and numbers at the start of every era, I'm always like.. do yall know who we stan? Why do this do yourselves dies

If there's a hit, there's a hit. Just enjoy the music, this isn't the Toy Story soundtrack song thread ddd

I mean I can sorta understand it coming from NBB and how massive of a hit it is. But some people need to realize that that came from the GP streaming and not from Tinashe's core fanbase. They shouldn't be expecting even Charli XCX type of numbers from this release.

She's coming off two hits, her largest tour & international presence. Not to mention Atlantic being involved now…

Why would anyone be content with moving backwards rip

I'm not sure we understand Tinashe's success the same way

Her big hits 2 On, All My Friends, Nasty, NBB, even Needs, etc are all kinda serendipitous. They didn't debut huge for the most part and grew because they caught on. There's no telling whether Too Easy or any song on the album will catch on. She releases quality and that's all that really matters, chance will do the rest. There isn't a massive machine and core fanbase behind her to drive big debuts and her hits don't really capture huge amount of fans who tune in for debuts.

And that's okay! We love her for the excellent music and talent and that's enough. But the frustrations over the start of every era are just kinda nn at this point. It's fun for the game of it but frustrations over a music video and promo should be reserved for other fanbases imo, but obviously my fellow Sweetees can approach the era however they feel is best for them too, just my 2 cents gaycat3

Kii but success is relative. michael

NGL I feel like single reception is not thatttt important in the grand scheme of things as long as the album is amazing + acclaimed, which, going by insider reports in this thread, is already very likely. This era should be treated as a victory lap following the organic success of her last 2 viral hits and if something manages to take off, that's even better, but it shouldn't be the expected standard knowing how she likes to blur the line between alt girlie and popstar!

If anything, I feel like expectations should be focused on getting her biggest album debut (with a proper and timely physical distribution for once lol) and gearing up for what should be the biggest headline tour of her career. That is what truly matters for someone who's this far in her career imo. Obviously, a hit would be the cherry on top but I think the era's central focus is reintroducing Tinashe the POPSTAR who's now back with major label support. As we've learned, all it takes is the right song, so having expectations isn't going to be doing anyone any (party) favours. Let's enjoy the ride and see how it plays out girls. bird

Well, it's a bop but feels like more a tastemaker than an actual hit.

NGL maybe that's all this is. She's been teasing the popstar song before this one

duca

video 10/10 for me, i'm sorry.

choreo was bomb, product placement was good, storyline was funny and she def has been on tiktok watching those "all the celebrities walking around are actually clones" videos. LOVED it!

video giving high budget conceptual meta popstar yessss ms Nashe! clap3

Plus her making intense choreo look effortless… truly Janet's daughter through and through jonny6

Did she get killed twice or was the start a flash forward?

For me, it's just too easy for Tinashe to be a popstar that even if she has her setbacks (RCA Lockdown, etc) in life, she'll always be back to what she's best at. So basically 2 different instances of her being hurt.

Edit: Also she's learning the choreo from a videotaped Tinashe meaning that this is the new one.

The MV is fantastic! It's like her own version of Kim Petras' Need for Speed. (Also love that video so that is high praise.)

She choreo parts are the best parts for me. Also curious what the number 7-5-8 means and if it's really an Easter egg.
