'Sia and Chaka worked together on Khan's upcoming album, also called Chakzilla, which comes out on Friday, Sept. 18 via BMG Rights Management. "It's a really, really great album, a great CD with great songs. It's going to be on the pop dance side," she says of Chakzilla, her first full-length project since 2019's Hello Happiness. "We've got lots of great people collaborating as well."

Sia tells PEOPLE in a statement, "Chaka is the Godzilla of chanteuses alive, and it was my honor to collaborate with her on this music!"

Khan teases the album as a sonic return to "where I started" earlier in her career. The project comes after she was honored with a Rock & Roll Hall of Fame induction in 2025 and the Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award in 2026.

"Anytime someone gives you kudos like that, it's a beautiful thing," says Khan, who appreciates the recognition of her overall career — but her mind is set on the future. "I'm very much a forward thinker," she adds. "I'm a real next girl."

Looking forward to the new era, Khan says, "I just am hopeful that everyone really likes the music and loves where I'm coming from with singing pop again, which I love to do. I just hope everyone's really happy and really loves what they hear."

The People article says it's the single cover. Not sure whether it's also the album cover.

Lead single is a bop, as were the singles from Hello Happiness. I'm hyped for the album.

The way queen has (mostly) REFUSED to release bad music for 6 decades and can still come up with something fresh and compelling at this stage of her career needs to be studied.

I f***ing hate Greg Kurstin's production so much. It's deprived of any semblance of soul.

Also Sia hasn't written a truly good song since ca. 2015. Can't believe she was once my favourite songwriter...

IKR...I was listening to this in the shower...and it's VERY pop...in a generic way. Chaka's voice hasn't diminished and IMO she deserves songs that only SHE can sing. A lot the songs I heard could have been given to anyone. It's giving shopping mall background music.

Someone call Raphael Saadiq, Mark Ronson, Jungle or Tame Impala to give her some soulful, funky productions worthy of her voice and range.

This was back in 2007 and still sounds fresh (produced by Jimmy Jam & Terry Lewis and The Avila Brothers)

Yes, thank you. My thoughts exactly. I'd love for her to work with house-music producers, sth along the lines of Mariah's newest remixes. We haven't gotten a project like that from her yet and it would give her a lot of room to ad-lib and just go with the vibes etc. Her voice needs freedom. This formulaic Sia stuff is so stifling, Idk why she agreed to do this. Vocally she's in a fantastic place!

Curious Subject is the only acceptable song on here, perhaps Boogie's in My Soul as well, but that's it.

Also I'm gonna need that jazz album she's announced years ago and we still haven't got it.

She's arguably one of the few singers of her generation who can still sing any of the popular genres - pop, r&b, soul, gospel and JAZZ.

She'd probably sell more doing a contemporary jazz album with the right vinyl aesthetic, focusing on physicals to appeal to both older demographics and hipster millenials and gen Zs. Ezra Collective just went #1 in the UK. She can sing any kind of jazz from the classic American Songbook era to the modern, eclectic stuff.

I'd love to hear her collaborate with the younger jazz artists like Ezra and Snarky Puppy...even a live jam session would show off her unique musicianship in a way pop album never could.
