Why do you think atrl is wrong about almost everything?

Featured Replies

For whatever reason what atrl hates always goes on to be a huge success and what they like flops the majority of the time. Where is the disconnect?! Wouldn't this mean that atrl doesn't know anything about popculture?

Kind of. Half of ATRL desperately wants to believe Lady Gaga isn't one of the biggest artists of her generation, for example.

Because everyone here is biased to their faves and wont use their brains suburban

For the most part people are far too concerned with making everything into a stan war.

Yes. ATRL is full of delusional, hypocritical and pretentious old hags who knows NOTHING about real world.

I actually think a lot of what people say here is truthful and accurate

suburban

You wouldn't say it because atrl has the reputation of being full of chronically online loser cigarettes, but that's kind of the crowd who are the tastemakers and can spot trends early

I think people here just are so stan brain rotted. Everything turns into one. I have to wonder, why?

Because this website lives in a gay bubble where everything is measured to 2008-2012 levels of success which just isnt realistic anymore, the game has changed

This is an interesting point.

I sorta agree in that if we are claiming ATRL is "wrong" because it can't identify a hit, what's occurring is a lack of understanding what the GP wants, and a lack of understanding of how what we [with a different taste for pop music] want isn't what the GP wants.

Although ATRL can have some pretty bad takes, I wouldn't say it's as wholly basic and lowest common denominator as the GP.

Is this shocking? I've only been an active member here for a few months and I've seen so many wild takes.

This is a website that has members that genuinely believe that Christina Aguilera hasn't had any impact on pop culture when she's influenced and inspired a **** ton of artists including the currently very popular Sabrina Carpenter.

These same people will act like a talentless TikTok influencer like Addison Rae is the second coming of Christ when the only thing she inspires is bowel movements.

You just have to take most posts with a grain of salt and realise that ATRL and reality aren't quite the same thing.

Because users here are wired to judge what works best for their fave and project that onto other artists, without realizing that this way of thinking is too disconnected from how the general public actually decides what becomes a hit

rogue2

Sometimes it feels more accurate than Twitter but at the same time it feels like the metrics here are stucked in 2010.

because the GP is made up of mostly straight women and men, atrl is homo. Our tastes are very different, for better or worse rogue2

This site never cared enough about making sense/evidence/etc. they just want to insist on their stan narratives. I knew from the takes of Liddos and by the Katy and MJ threads most here live in a bubble and are out of touch. celestial5

I've been on this site for almost 20 years, a lot of people on here don't know how to touch grass. I used to be pretty bad myself but since I have a steady job now I'm on here less and honestly, people need to realize on here that it's ok to listen to other things besides pop girls.

Atomization and myopia. I wouldn't say ATRL is wrong about everything, but years of intense focus on certain metrics that are actually pretty arbitrary and inculcation of stan bubbles means that a lot of us are tuned out from the actual tastes of the GP And the way in which they conceptualize certain artists

I will say i find it interesting that this site seems to be stuck in time. Has there not been many new or younger users in the last ten years? We all still talk about gaga and katy and rihanna and beyonce and madonna like its 2012 and theyre the biggest and most important pop stars. like how is this site discussing christina and britney more than sabrina and olivia? rip theres not much love for the new generation at all.

BTS coffee2 like just admit your tasteless and xenophobic and move on.

pop girls ruling everyone else psyduck

thinking it's against the rules stanning men on this site.
