It seems clear as day that the massive female pop stars are sort of an exception to the rule, and in general people much prefer to listen to male artists. When it comes to male popstars they can be marketed to teen girls and credibly transition to being for "everyone" whereas many female pop stars are only listened to by women, people in bigger cities and LGBT people. Why is this?

Male artists also seem able to genre hop much more easily whereas female artists get their credibility questioned every time they make a pivot.

Approximately 80% of signed artists are men, so they already massively outnumber women in the industry. As for the expectations and standards compared to female pop stars, it's literally as simple as misogyny

Society is conditioned to hate women, including women themselves. Why do you think so many female artists still collaborate with Chris Brown and why a lot of his fans are women?

Women are boxed into pop and the genre is also the lowest quality compared to others, the producers labels give them are the same over and over and there is this strange comparison that doesn't help

I remember a study from around the time LOUD came out that said Rihanna was one of the most frequently skipped female artists by men.

Women listen to both female artists and male artists while straggots listen to only straggots.

i have female acquaintances that don't listen to female artists. So it's not exclusively men that will not listen to women that's why i do my part and 99% of what i listen to is female artists.

Men make better music

You have Bruno, Ed, Drake, Weeknd, Justin, Eminem all with some great songs

From women only Taylor, Adele, Rihanna and Shakira make good music, maybe Ariana/Billie with a few songs

Other females have very mediocre music in general
