How could xtina have avoided floppage?

Featured Replies

I think she wasted part of her prime releasing an album in spanish and then, after stripped, releasing the very odd -even tho I love it!- Back to basics

On top of this, the bionic era fell in disgrace after being released around the same time The fame monster was around, right on the imperial gaga era and suffered the backlash we all know about

So, how do you think xtinas career run should have been? How many albums should she have released between her debut and say.. 2010? Which style should she have sticked with instead? What were the mistakes that lead her to floppage and what should have been done in its place?

only if Britney hadn't been born in 1981

She took too many long breaks during her prime, and her momentum passed her by.

Nowadays, the only way she has left to avoid flopping is not releasing anymore!

Start an era in 2005

Then another in 2008

Don't release Bionic

Tour with Leona Lewis like she was supposed to

Release Lotus as is

Waiting for the bubblegum teen pop era to die out and coming back strong with Stripped was actually a great move. It wasn't her sound and she desperately needed to disassociate herself from the Britney's clone narrative. The potential quick hits from a second teen album weren't going to be good for her in the long run.

B2B was the first big mistake. She disappeared from the scene for three years, came back with a drastic image change and a sound that didn't resonate with her late teen and college-aged audience from Stripped. It didn't flop, but it was uneventful and made her take the back seat that year. Literally all the pop girls had a smash hit that era except her. Beyoncé, Nelly, Shakira, Gwen, Fergie…priceless

Everything that came after was a disaster after the other that solidified the notion that her presence on pop culture was no longer needed.

By not releasing music? If there's no music, there's no floppage suburban

I think the Christmas album in 2000 was too much too soon. A holiday album with the Baby Jane persona could've worked.

I do think she should have followed up stripped with another album on the same vein of it and maaaybe after that she could have tried with back to basics

After back to basics, and seeing gaga had the futuristic blonde ***** aesthetic appropiated already, i would have tried something very balladry in the same vein of what duffy, adele and amy winehouse were succesfully doing by that time, instead of doing bionic

Believe it or not this is not intended as a shade.

I do think xtina doesnt get as much credit as she deserved and that things could have been different

Latin Gold?

1.) Should've released another teen pop album in late 2000

2.) Should've released another album in 2004 with her black hair and Can't Hold Us Down sound

3.) ^ If the above did happen, Back to Basics in 2006 would've been fine

4.) Release Bionic in 2009 with the Keeps Getting Better imagery. That photoshoot was iconic and she looked great. Bionic was so underwhelming in comparison.

She needed to release more music. Xtina taking breaks in between albums was the biggest mistake. I agree that Xtina drastically changing her image with every new album release was too much for her fanbase/ the gp. I think after stripped album she could've done ballad focus album she already laid the work and was awarded for it with "beautiful". If whe worked with someone like mark ronson for a new album it would've done better.

If you look at the vast majority of legends in the music industry, they remained humble. Xtina wasn't that from the start sistrens

Back to Basics wasn't radio friendly and ran particularly long for its time. She had too many fillers on that album and Stripped, but Stripped also had several big hits that were reminiscent of the modern times (for that era). Waiting four years to release an album that didn't have any modern sounding songs was a risk that didn't pay off commercially, but was somewhat respected critically. If she put a song like "We Belong Together" or "Irreplaceable" on it, it would've sold more. Also Amy Winehouse's "Back to Black" came out that same year and her album had the same retro sound, but the songwriting was LEAGUES better (and so were the vocals and production lol). No one really wanted that sound from Xtina, and she sings particularly screamy on B2B imo. Except for the gem that is "Save Me From Myself". I wish she would've used that tone more often in her music instead of the constant WHOAOAOAOAOAAOAAAOAOAOAO over-singing that she's known for.

Then she released Bionic, another FOUR years after that, and it was a cheap sounding electropop album that wasn't good. That was when people decided she was no longer needed. I think most people came to the consensus that she's a good singer but she doesn't really know who she is as an artist, given that each album she released was so drastically different from the next. Then the quality fell off a cliff with Lotus and everything she released afterwards. Accelerate has to be one of the worst songs I've ever heard in my entire life. 💀

TLDR; Too long of breaks in between albums that declined in quality with each release, never developed a consistent sound despite having a very distinctive voice, albums were 18-20 tracks and were bloated with filler

To start, don't throw your chewed gum at fans who camped out for hours just to be as close to you as possible.

Also, constantly fluctuating in weight and ethnicity is risky and hard to keep up with. Pick one and stick with it!!!

Omg I forgot that during her peak, SO many other major artists openly spoke about how brazenly rude she was to them. Mary J. Blige, Mariah Carey, Avril Lavigne, P!nk, Britney Spears, etc. are just a few I can think of. Avril and P!nk always get sh*t for being a "Britney hater" but literally EVERY TIME they were asked "Britney vs. Christina" their response was an immediate "Britney" followed by a snarky remark about Xtina and how she's rude. 💀

Xtina def had a "mean girl" vibe and I think it eventually turned a lot of people off, both in the industry and the public. She used to be REALLY full of herself in the classic way and not in the ironic camp way that makes it somewhat likable and funny.

As someone who loved her from the start, I must say B2B is where she lost my attention. That sound was not familiar (nor pleasant) to my young ears. The singles were pretty decent, but not outstanding enough for me to want to dive deeper into that album. The length, the whole double CD thing without any visible distinction between the two sides, as well as the aesthetics weren't particularly interesting to me. I listened to that album in full for the first time only last year, and even then it felt like chore. And even though Stripped was roughly the same length (and had a few boring fillers too), it was much more interesting as an album with fantastic singles and great accompanying imagery. So, I would strongly rework B2B as an album and as an era to avoid the collapse in interest that she experienced during that era. Once you lose the GP attention, it's really hard to gain it back.

Neither was it when she got involved with other people's husbands—but let's stay on topic, we're talking about Xtina!!!

All she had to do was save Lina Morgana's life & make sure Perez Hilton & Lady Gaga never met.
