It came to our attention that some cannot decide if the Grammys actually are important and matter or not. It is as is if they don't matter when their fave does not win, but suddenly it matters when their fave does win. Let's see who is consistent. rogue

After this year? No. Billie and Kenrick winning main awards were a mess and just as one can expect from the Grammys.

We ask the same question every year yet everyone wants their fav to win big awards.

I should say yes, but Messy winning over Manchild, The Subway and Disease left such a sour taste in my mouth

Whether we think they do or not is irrelevant. They matter to the artists, clearly.

They still are, but they've dropped in prestige in my eyes. It's basically a popularity contest, not a true honor of musical artistry anymore.

It basically feels like a slightly more formal version of every other music award now.

Missed opportunity to drag my actual Grammyless flop fave, Björk.

I'm pretty sure if an artist is a Grammy winner, especially in the major categories, they can majorly jack up their appearance fees and it results in more traditional media outlets like radio being supportive of whatever release comes next. So yes, in that context they're still important.

I'd say Grammy's are still a big deal in the industry, but not really to the public like they used to be. I'm pretty sure out of the major award shows (Emmy's, Oscar's, Grammy's, Golden Globes, etc.) The Grammy's gets the lowest viewership and the most criticism. Which is kinda warranted, because they haven't put on a genuinely amazing show since the early 2010's. It feels kinda cheap now and I think the removal of the gendered categories was a huge mistake. Now they give out less awards and fill up that time with more commercials and unnecessary tribute performances.

they do but if an artist doesn't have one, it doesn't mean anything, if that makes any sense.

it did but now not really, the drop in viewership every year shows that not many people care about it anymore

it only doesn't matter when a Grammy winner says it doesn't matter. otherwise you're just bitter

Thank you

taylor swift beyonce kendric lamar

Something about tonight's show left a sour taste in my mouth. Hopefully none of my favs (Taylor etc.) get nominated next year so I won't have to watch and I can just have music on my phone and leave it at that.

If it truly didn't matter to them they wouldn't submit in the first place so this is a fallacy

Yes. And your fav Nicki will never get one

Woah…

They've 100% dropped in prestige. I don't know if America cares about the Grammys, really.

This. They all attend when they're nominated (except for Ari), it's not like those attendance award shows like the VMAs...
