After this year? No. Billie and Kenrick winning main awards were a mess and just as one can expect from the Grammys.

I mean they do in a cultural sense but I wish people would realize just how partial they are and how they are definitely not won on merit. Even when they get it right sometimes (like Bad Bunny winning AOTY) they still are mostly about perpetuating the status quo

i think grammy voters being so out of touch with culture and the general public's loss of interest in award shows as a thing has made them matter less but they still matter

People here flip flop way too many times I can't stand it. chick3

They do, but in a frontloaded way. Most of the most legendary, innovative and enduring artists have never won a Grammy so it put things into perspective.

I think even Barbra Streisand said that songs are what remains, not awards. If someone can find that speech, feel free to post it 😉

I mean why have Lana, Katy Perry or Diana Ross 0 Grammys.

Than some other absolute legends are stuck with just 1-5 career Grammys

And than artists we all know about win basically everytime they release a new album at least one Grammy.

We just see an artists name and know „They don't care about the artist so no Grammy for them" or „The artist is a Grammy darling, surely they give 1-2 tonight"

ew, don't be grouping someone as legendary as diana with those two biblio

grammys do matter, to artists and those in the music industry. the general public, apart from stans and pop fora participants, don't really care.

the fact remains that there are still too many members in that academy (as with any other voting body) who are old fossils and clueless about the state of modern music these days. i do however see some progress in both the nominees and winners of recent years.

i mean, they obviously do since this is a topic of discussion every year, maybe it matters more to the people in the industry than to the GP but that's literally how it should be

like, i couldn't care less if a song/album i like gets a grammy or it's nominated but if i was an artist or worked in the industry it would obviously be an honor

also it's nice when my faves win

I'm going to say yes but I do think they aren't as impactful as they were when linear television viewership was peaking.

Most artists would probably see a bigger boost from their song becoming a Tiktok dance these days. How sad

Obviously Grammys still relevant despite it's becoming less prestige over the time. Otherwise we won't talk about Grammys every year and use the awards achievement to glaze our faves

They've been inconsequential in the real world for years but they still serve as easy ammo in stan wars so on ATRL, I guess yes
