It'd still no doubt be my least listened record by her, but she went like 40% of the way, didn't fully commit to it, and then her promotion and visuals also were a weird mixture of different vibes outside of a cowboy hat.

Love the sis but there wasn't much of a vision happening.

I've said this before, but ASIB actually did what Joanne was trying to do (sonically). The execution was just so much better. Besides the genre and the dope-vocals (which she has since figured out how to incorporate into her singing in a way that works really well), Joanne is pretty weak melodically (bar a few tracks). ASIB has much stronger melodies despite dabbling in the same genres, and her pop albums released before and after Joanne all had strong melodies, especially in the choruses (which is where she really shines).

I also hate that one of the album's male songwriters or producers (allegedly) told Gaga that she needed to make some soft rock, country-indie snoozefest in order to be taken seriously within the music industry. Never mind the fact that she already had 6 Grammys at that point. Never mind the fact that she had just brought the house down at the Oscars with TSOM. Never mind the fact that anyone who released BTW and C2C three years apart has more musical versatility than a vast majority of musicians. I don't think it was Mark Ronson or BloodPop who told her this as she did work with them again after Joanne. But if you go through the album's credits, you see several unwashed Pitchfork bros whom you can imagine made that comment.

I'm glad we're over that era. But Gaga as a real issue with needing male validation that holds her back a lot of times. She needs to realize she's that *****.
