The Hive is really insecure about her modern success because for years they loved bragging about how Gaga was picking up Bey's "scraps" from ASIB, Coachella, etc. all for it to blow up in their faces. As a hybrid fan of both, I agree it's not all of them! I kinda wish the nonsense would just stop since they're both living legends with incredible talent anyway. I am more than happy to recognize that Beyoncé has a more beloved image by the US public, but also that Gaga is significantly more commercially successful globally in 2026.

It's all moot though, it doesn't take away from Gaga's massive fame or Beyoncé's commercial achievements.

Luv seeing Gaga stomp on her male peers.

Also the fact that that quote exhibits precisely the hubris he is shadily trying to warn other artists about, and ended up ironically being his downfall. He got a lot of hits, thought he had it figured out, started to work his career algorithmycally and in the process never managed to cultivate a fanbase that would keep him culturally relevant through the thick and thin. Turns out listening to other people too much might end up deteriorating your artistic identity. The opposite of Gaga.
