I personally think TDD is atrocious, but taste is subjective... So if you like it and you're having fun with it, I'm genuinely happy someone is enjoying it.

If they had pushed GoE the way they shoved TDD down people's throats (let's not forget TDD got more promo than Abra ), it probably would've been a cute minor hit. VIY isn't even the best-performing song among fans, GoE is still the most streamed album track a year later.

The truth is, no song was really going to become a hit post-album release. Nothing got a meaningful bump after Coachella, and Brazil basically carried the small VIY surge after Copacabana. HBDUWM had a moment too, but nothing noteworthy.

Poker Face still gets 1M+ daily streams, not to late to release that as a single

That's a fair point. Mayhem absolutely deserved a summer single and either choice would've been okay as long as we got something, but we got nothing.

I just don't think GoE would've smashed. VIY has cross-generational appeal and could have gone viral, but we'll never know for sure. Welp.

I knew it was over the moment those fans listened to TDD for the first time in those Netflix coffins, and the most positive reaction was "it's funky and fits the Wednesday show".
