My mom passed away last week. I know I mentioned her wanting to hear a Beyonce rock album as she has anticipated it for years, and I'm so sad she didn't get to hear it before she passed (if that's wha

I really hope we get it soon. My mom loves Beyonce, and her favorite genre is rock, she is SO excited. She just got diagnosed with terminal cancer, and I really hope she gets to hear the album while

Did she keep self-titled off of streaming too for a time or am I misremembering?

she did when it first released due to her itunes deal iirc, but only for the first week or something like that i think redface

I'm pretty sure it became available on streaming services in late 2014 with the Platinum Edition, but Drunk In Love and XO got a Spotify release just a week after the album dropped.

Yes ST wasn't on Spotify other than the singles.

yeah, she then released Partition as a single (around the same time the MV was posted on Youtube) and maybe Pretty Hurts too, before the Platinum Edition?

i could be wrong but i think the exclusive 1-week window was for the availability of the tracks on iTunes... for the first days you could only buy the album and not individual tracks lol

so it's been 13 years of her being sick and twisted

Very indifferent to TS (very!), but as Chart Hive I'd be lying if I said I wasn't intrigued about how her team is navigating this thing of YouTube streams not counting towards charts anymore.

For those not in the know, she dropped her latest video exclusively (or at least for now) on Spotify Premium and Apple Music. Both of which carry the most weight for the charts. She paired this with a one-off physical single drop (CDs, vinyl). Basically, she's a shoo-in for a huge jump on the Hot 100. Most likely to #1.

Some are branding it smart, which it is. Some are labelling it desperate (which it is, as she's in the midst of an era that even her fans don't like and is scrambling for another "hit").

For me, several things can be true at once.

As relates to Bey, it makes me really intrigued about how she'll handle her "singles" moving forward.

For as "unbothered" as some of the Hive who drink her Koolaid claim she is, our girl deffo has played the YouTube game with her leads (BMS "clique" video, T'HEM lyric videos etc, fan montages). All of which have helped her snatch those #1s.

With all of that effectively being off the table from a YouTube perspective and our girl still "playing the game" to reign as queen, I'm intrigued to see what she will do to adapt to the new climate.

I always felt she was going to be one of the main artists to jump aboard Spotify Premium's video push, as it's clear our girl is all about asserting her $$ premium $$ and with all these big deals she's cutting (like Netflix), it's almost as if she outgrew YouTube in terms of how she positions the premium appeal of her video output.

We'll see.

I don't think she'll care about losing streams. She'll put the visuals (if they ever get released) in a platform in which it takes some initiative from the user to watch them (cinema, netflix) and they won't be separate videos so they won't count towards any song anyway.

If you want to watch them you'll have to actually sit and watch them. That's it.

Yeah I do wonder if the lead of Act 3 will hit #1.. So far she's been able to do it twice. Would be nice to have a #1 associated with each act.

I hear you, I actually mean about her career more broadly.

Fairly certain that the trilogy visuals (which I've always believed are coming) will arrive on a Netflix or similar.

I mean beyond that.

Think Spirit, or the handful of videos from The Gift she dropped on YT, or Be Alive or even if future albums that maybe won't have grand movies attached and would benefit from YT streams.

In a way, all of this reaffirms why I am actually pro her taking a slight ALBUM break (not break-break) post trilogy to temperature check the industry's climate and strategise how best to innovate.

Just like how she knew she had to play the physical/vinyl game with Rennie onwards, I imagine she will have to assess and adapt to whatever is happening streaming wise if she's to stay competitive.

her and her team can't even be arsed to upload anything anywhere at all, they certainly don't care about losing youtube streams

hell the fossils who work for her probably don't even know that youtube doesn't count anymore

I'm with you, fren.

But she and her team absolutely DO care. I think the issue has long been whether they care enough or, crucially, whether they care for long enough.

I will scream this til every Hive hears it lol, Bey snatching #1s with her last two leads is the furthest thing from coincidental.

She, Parkwood, and Sony are very aware of what to do and what to spend to ensure that happens. They are also aware of the climate and thus know of the levers to pull so that "Beyonce's big comeback song" does what it needs to do, given the various other things it directly feeds into...see: album, tour, and endorsements.

The issue has long been them caring beyond the lead and missing key windows to give the album overall added fire with multiple hit singles. Something, whether we like it or not, is clear TS team seems to know is a must.

I know this is a beyonce base but I'm sad about Vacancy by Ari Lennox flopping.

Did you expect it not to?

I think outside of her creative team, Parkwood is ass. They seem to be stuck in a different era and don't have the skills or capacity to be able to respond to how quickly things move these days. I know a lot of that is probably driven by B. But there's such a clunkiness to what they do.

also can they PLEASE sort out her archive

her concert films and albums should all be on Apple Music and Spotify

She needs to get rid of all versions of albums apart from 1 master one for each

remove all the random singles etc

it's a mess

I've probably said this before but Ari, Selena, Taylor, Kardashians, etc etc are all the same. In fact many have lost way more than Bey. Some time in the last few years IG started aggressively cracking down on bots and basically every major celeb has stalled/decreased

IG is dead anyways sistrens

I've been keeping an eye on Sabrina carpenter since Short n Sweet when she was close to 50 mil and she still hasn't cracked it. She only recently surpassed her inferior peer, Dove Cameron, within the past year.

everybody GET UP!

I know I shouldn't seek validation from racist white people but I came across a country music subreddit dragging Jellyroll for winning best country album. The title was "at least it's not Beyonce" or something like that. Likely used as sarcasm. All the top comments dragged jelly roll and when someone defended him over Beyonce they got downvoted. Someone even said Beyoncés album was better and got 27 upvotes. When someone said it wasn't country they got rage downvoted. We won we won!
