Why does this feel compressed and muted compared to the OG album? I remember the mixing was really loud and in your face.

Don't you find it interesting he would mention an unreleased mix of the song we're now hearing in part today?

You might need to give your head a shake... because it's looking like they revisited a circa '06 chopped N' screwed version of "Back Up" but added new vocals on top.

Recorded on all the new music and mixed / co-mixed some of them as well.

that doesnt explain why the three bonus track for the og release are like that when the whole album is in the original key

20 years later, a new chapter of B'DAY.

Honored to be part of @beyonce B'DAY (20th Anniversary Deluxe Edition), celebrating two decades of an album that has left an undeniable mark on the world.

For this new chapter, @colin_m_leonard at @singmastering mastered the entire anniversary edition, including the vinyl and every format of the release. Lacquers phenomenally cut by Levi Seitz.

That doesn't explain why the other two bonus tracks are pitched down alongside it.

The "chopped n screwed" influence on back up was the stuttering vocals at the start of each verse (that she cut in the newest version) "e-e-everybody know that face"…Also the end of the song where it slows down and her vocals slow down with it, as well as the stuttered vocals on the chorus.

The pitching down of the vocal (and the other bonus tracks) is because she put new vocals on them and her range isn't as high anymore.
