Beyoncé

This is part 2 of the Beyoncé discussion.

To give her grace, who else right now is successfully doing a trilogy album with accompanied tours, scrapped visuals, and tour films on this magnitude. And preparing this during the pandemic no less. Meg Thee Stalli barely was able to get her Act 2 out and god knows if the third one will ever come.

It's hard being a pack leader and an influencer. She's hag but a hag who tries

I think it's moreso the 2013 "do everything but what people expect so you can really shock them later" thing.

That's stupid. Not you -- but the idea if that's what they're doing. The general public isn't on pins and needles waiting for the next album from anyone these days. There's so much going on, and monoculture is dead.

Not a single normal person (we're stans, we're insane) is thinking "Omg Beyonce is doing a B'Day reissue, what is she up to???" They heard Donk and put it on a playlist and kept it moving. They're not confused or intrigued

Come on now. It's been one year since the last show of The Cowboy Carter Tour. Last Game of Thrones book came out over 15 years ago. rip

Bey's "eras" give so little aside of the tours in the 2020s, so to me, its been 2.5 years since I got sth that truly fed me. Sue me

Also, lbr: CCT had a fraction of iconic moments compared to RWT.

Or maybe we should learn to respect other people's lives. They may be artists, but there seems to be a common misunderstanding that we are in a position to demand something from them. We are not. They are great artists and they put out stuff when they deem it finished and ready to be released to the world. Old man is battling depression partly because of the endless discourse on how he is fat and old and will not finish the books before he dies. That only made him unable to finish them. Nevertheless, the two are incomparable. Beyoncé is a woman in her forties who has three children. She is not gonna be who she used to be twenty years ago. And she still releases regularly. It's not like it's been 15 years since CC that you can say that she is unable to finish the trilogy. For all we know, the album is done and she is just waiting for the right moment

Who cares? Who wanted this on streaming? The song is already charting on the BB Hot 100 by itself and is 65% of the way to its first certification already.

This remix was clearly a move for Urban radio to put the record on overdrive as summer ends and take it to the top. It's been the greatest gainer the past few weeks on Adult R&B (Original), Urban (Remix + Original), and Rhythmic (Remix + Original).

Hope they send the Acoustic mix to Pop and all points East.

Do y'all spread this negativity around in your real lives, or is this your place to purge?

If this is the former... I don't know how people could survive around this constant dark cloud. Not just you... there's a big group in here.

So are Ariana / Her Fans giving "flowers" or at least aknowledging that the Mute Challenge stems from Renny Tour ....im seeing viral clips and no mentions .

They're not on pins and needles, but if your point is that there's so much going on that the average person doesn't care about her releases, wouldn't that be all the more reason for Beyoncé to tease and draw things out to build hype?

and anyway, if you put her song on a playlist, then you are engaging with her in a low-stakes way, and in that way she is building up demand for act iii, something which, by the way, deserves to have a little more hype and fanfare leading into it than the first two acts. I'm glad she's not rushing into it.

Uhm… did we forget her obviously cryptic posts, Ms Tina dropping hints in several interviews…it definitely did feel like a buildup we don't have to lie here.

That is an entirely different thing than what I've stated though.

I said the first two acts were released in a moment where the music was suited to the cultural moment. Supposed hints don't constitute a cultural moment.

part of this is her fault tho. she drop hints, clues, or patterns that lead ppl to expect a certain outcome, only to do it differently. skull

If you are a Beyoncé fan in 2026 then one should know that even a hint is not a guarantee, so getting upset because something you decided was a hint wasn't fulfilled is not really her fault.

I get your point overall, that any negatively she receives could be avoided by actually being up front, but I'm not defending her alone, per se.

I'm talking about it from the point of view of being a stan... we could just allow her to do whatever and be content, or we can hold her accountable to every supposed hint and be in a continual state of distress. Which is a more pleasing state?

anyway this remix ep is really good, it's nonstop over here.

it did take more than a listen to get used to the new production but now I can barely remember what the original was, and it feels like it was created for this song.

I never really got "DONK"'s appeal before, it very much sounded like it was unreleased for a reason and listening to Grown Woman last night, another ST-era fan-service gift, I feel similarly. Obviously GW is a great, fun song, but I am so glad she didn't put it out in 2013 as planned. It maybe would have been a moderate hit but if she didn't start thinking differently about her career and just went on with the status quo like GW and SOTS, then she'd have been chasing hits. I really adore that our fave does things her way, and while J.Lo, Britney, and Christina were chasing current sounds in the early/mid 2010s without also thinking about the artistry behind it, or how it fits into their broader career, or how it paves the way for their future career and then being measured by their chart positions rather for their career or artistry, Beyoncé was purposefully flopping with Formation (a current sounding song but with bigger aspirations than the charts) without it hurting her career or reputation one bit.

and I'm in awe of that as a stan, because really this is uncharted territory. Even Prince didn't maintain this sort of cultural savvy, artistic appreciation (for his new work) and continued relevance in his withholding eras.

OG Donk was a looped demo bffr, song was 1:35 minutes

Wake Up is the real selftitled gem she could have revived and a jay verse on that could work too but ariana ruined a chance to do it in 2018

I'm kinda glad it worked out that way because now people can see for themselves why she was credited alongside Pharrell on her demo, as a bunch of key elements did not appear in Ariana's final version (A bridge, the outro, Texas slang in the verses, Blue's appearance).
