Let's have a healthy discussion about this:

• Vocally, Whitney clears Bey. Why? Whitney basically started at level 10 in singing while Bey worked her way there.

• Though there are both natural singers, Bey molded and meticulously crafter her vocal ability to do all she can now.

• Vocally, Whitney was swinging out the gate. She has a stronger and arguably better tone, a wider range and is untouchable in her vocal prime.

• Bey is at level 10 on vocal agility though and pregnancy lowered her voice to arguably her best vocal tone of her career. I love baby Bey voice tho but older and mature Bey just feels and sounds so much warmer and soothing to the ears.

• Bey won't ever be fully respected as a pure vocalist because she has never owned that archetype. She embodies Tina Turner down to the T and that's okay cuz we know she can sing down.

• Also, I think what separates Whitney, Mariah and Celine are the fact that their voices have always sounded otherworldly and chilling to me, so they are graded at A+ singers aka the ballad queens who simply blew the minds of the world by standing in front of a mic. Not that Bey can't do that but those three always had a lil sumn extra, they are basically the vocal blueprints.

• While Beyonce, Brandy, Jazmine Sullivan, Toni Braxton, Patti etc are graded at A- for me. They all possess abilities that are simply incomparable and can be graded as some of the best of all time based on their different strengths.

I don't negate that but Whitney still has the wider vocal range here…unless you're defining range as something other from octaves…..if we are talking range in terms of agility well Bey clears any day.

I actually think the timing of Jay's GQ interview sort of backs up the theory that Bey is about to re-emerge. Tbh the whole thing screams 'pls try and clear up some of this mess before act iii so I dont cop your heat'.

Anyway, in somewhat exciting news Beyonce dot com has re-instated that pop-up thing asking you to enter your email for updates and announcements. That hasn't been there for a while. Normally she rolls that out about 2 months before something.

The temperature is very much on his side and strangely it seems people seem to be sympathetic about what he has had to go through over the past 3/4 years. Agreed. But I also think the landscape has changed a lot. The issues at the cultural forefront has moved from "wokeness" to far more gruesome and pressing issues like genocides, wars (potentially a draft and world war), censorship, AI, and so on.

Jay doing these solo shows is the best thing for the carter brand. A lot of people did not think he could sell out a stadium solo and not only did he sell out one he sold out 3. No rapper has ever ever done that. Not one. It just shows how viable he is and that transfers to beyonka as well (not that she needed it but its an added bonus).
