And I would add EIL too. Speaking of "rushed" sounding albums, I think it does what it needs to do very effectively. To me there's no negative artistry for an album sounding like it was created quickly, if that's the vibe that is wanting to be imparted. EIL has this amazing hot summer energy, it feels like a release post Lemonade and 444 and think it's brilliant in how matter-of-fact it is.

Spirit is amazing though. It did a really great job of matching The Lion King's vibes without trying to replicate its style.

It should have been nominated for an Oscar and imo, won.

EVERYTHING IS LOVE suffers from being too corny at times but it's actually a solid project. short and sweet with a nice range of vocal performances from Bey.

The Gift is an excellently fleshed out concept album though. It belongs among her greatest work, even if she isn't on every song. She's the mastermind in curating and conceptualising the album. Also SPIRIT is a great song and you will deal! Let's not act like Formation belongs on Lemonade.

I really despise that song and its simpy cuz its sooooooo generic and feels like an IASF reject yet the GP LOVE it. I feel like it lowers the quality of 4, so many strong and rich R&B or R&B/Pop or straight Pop songs then you have this cheesy, high school sweetheart song. It was too pedestrian for me...

As a member of THE GIFT club, lemme defend my sis for a bit. Btw we are on good terms now, cuz you made some points and I liked a few posts.

• The gift is a well-crafted album in a whole new genre. She entered uncharted territory, studied it and succeeded.

• This was the first album we saw so many interludes on and personally I listen to the interlude version just as much as the one without them as it feels very immersive and pushes TLK story/world building from an audio to imagination perspective.

• Lets talk about the highlights that SURELY can sit with ST, LEM, CC and REN.

• BIGGER, FIND YOUR WAY BACK, BROWN SKIN GIRL, OTHERSIDE, WATER, ALREADY, MOOD 4 EVER....notice I didnt even mention the non-Bey songs which are also great!

i still think BIGGER should've closed out the ballad opening section of RWT, would've been such a great way to position Rennie in the greater context of her entire career + the whole ethos of the trilogy

Spirit is a soundtrack single for a remake of a kids movie made by Disney and soundtracked in the 1990s by Elton John... and we are expecting it to be anything other than corny? I think she did a great job fitting the brief but making it her way. The upward vocal movement leading into the chorus gets me every time. But hey, I'm one of the only Oscar-nominated Be Alive defenders too...
