Curious to hear other people's thoughts on what the future of humanity looks like. LOADED question I know but I had my trade over this afternoon and after we had finished bumpin uglies we got to talking about what the next few years are going to look like with all of the chaos that is going on in the world and in no particular order (AI, Trump, Israeli-Palestinian conflict, youth crime, etc etc) it had me a nervous WRECK. How do y'all protect your peace as best possible with everything going on outside our doorsteps? Not to sound alarmist I just wanted to chat

Well I'm not Chilean but unfortunately doom and terror has always been part of humanity 

 

I also think every generation has a "are we the last ones?" complex because it makes people feel special. Realistically tho it would only take 500-5000 people to remain after an earth shattering catastrophic event to re-populate the earth so humanity as a race will be fine. We're one of the most invasive species ever

Hopefully it will come soon. Humanity is too stupid and greedy to ever recover from the last 100 years, so **** us all and forever

These are not even the worst problems…. Did you know that compared to previous historical mass extinction events, most of which were caused by rapid CO2 rise because of massive volcanic eruptions, we are doing this now ourselves at an accelerated rate 10-15 times MORE?  
That fact made me gasp. Even if we stop right now, the damage is done, and global warming will not stop overnight. I'm afraid the planet is not meant to have such a species activity explosion so fast, and we are ruining the livable planet equilibrium. On top of that, in the (nearer) future AGI may decide that most humans are harmful to the planet and don't contribute to the society, and that a part of solution to the climate change problem is to wipe out billions of people, since scientists don't even fully understand how AI reaches its goal and can potentially do it in whatever way to meet its goal. And leaders are too busy chasing profits and be above competition instead of setting AI guardrails and laws.  
In short, chasing short-term profits and being selfish is digging us further into the grave
