I use an iPhone13 for years that I got second hand and have since made myself a promise that when this stops working, I will never get another iPhone and will change to something better/more ethical

My best I can do solution is to not buy anything with a lithium ion battery unless absolutely necessary. I had stickers over the exposed battery of my iPhone14 until I finally had to upgrade last week.

 

It's not perfect, but we certainly don't need to be lauding new technology and upgrading our devices just because there's a newer and shinier one.
