So this is a pattern I have seen a lot lately:

 

Artist announces new era:

Stans: <Insert name> is coming to slay/ end your faves.  

 

Snippet drops:

Stans: Oh this is the smash of her career. This will end the lessers. 

 

Single drops to poor reception/numbers:

Stans start to complain about lack of promo.

 

Artist tries with another song. 

Stans: THIS is the hit of the era.

Again, poor reception.  Stans complain again about lack of promo and start to blame the useless label.

 

Artist pushes on and announces the album.

Stans on the realisation that the project is likely to tank really start to ramp up the excuses: 

<Insert name > is clearly not chasing a hit this era.

 

This era is just for the fans. 

 

She/he is clearly not looking for chart success this era, its about acclaim and Grammys ( even when the album is generic dance with a current hot producer)

 

This release is an attempt to get out of her contract. 

 

Sabotaged by record company.

 

He/ she is choosing to not be successful to be more balanced in life. 

 

What these stans need to realize is that these artists could release the most current on trend song and album, with all the promo in the world and it will still tank, because no one is interested in THAT ARTIST anymore!!

 

Has anyone else noticed this pattern lately? Do you agree or am I reaching?

Isn't that the point of ATRL though?

I mean, stans will always do the most about anything.

Someone wise once said ATRL is a stage and we are all actors in it. 

The delusional millennials in the Hilary Duff (looove her) thread talking about promo charts radio push labels 

 

ATRL needs to realize that monoculture is over; your favorite artist has to succeed in touring rather than just charts to maintain a lasting career.

definitely accurate! i've seen all of these used for 143.... kitkats just refuse to accept that she is over.

No no "Polo" and "Freak It" were MEANT to flop its performance art for Kim Petras to show she's not under the label control any more, third single is the charm her solo smash is coming new queen of charts en route 

Literally sounds like what the OP did with their fave and 143.  Talk about the pot calling the kettle black.

This is a blatant lie. No one made any excuses for 143 flopping lol. We know it flopped and accept it. It was huge in Brazil and Micronesia and we celebrate that. 

Demi has been flopping her whole career. her stans are frustrated but i don't really see them making excuses about it. i only see excuses from bigger artist fanbases who apparently stan legends that are the best and biggest thing right now but still miss the top ten.
