Why is Ariana not getting Grammy's?

Featured Replies

I get that her music doesn't necessarily create an impact as it used to, but are we used to massive bangers, is the Academy unable to appreciate different types of art?

Its all politics. Stop asking that. She still got a few which is more than i can say for these major artists:   Björk Bob Marley The Cure Diana Ross ABBA Queen

She got one for sweetener for best pop album it's her only of the EGOT awards so idk the narrative she doesn't have grammys when there's other awards she actually doesn't have :gaycat2:

and for pop duo for rain on me, she has two, say thank you gaga :gaygacat3:

Ariana literally has Grammy's and ES was nominated last yr. She's doing great.

She just got unlucky that her peak went against the juggernaut that was When We All Fall Asleep... and last year was super stacked with other female pop artists taking the spotlight.

No Tears Left to Cry not being nominated for anything was diabolical tho.

I was rooting for TUN that grammys night too for anyone thinking I'm anti ari I just really do not like ES era at all the baby voice or the sponge :deadbanana2:

I remember billie apologized to ari for winning so much :deadbanana4:

She has two Grammys.

She doesn't have more for the same reason Mariah only has 5 and for the first 15 years of her career was stuck at 2 Grammy wins. They don't like pop divas that don't fit the adult contemporary vocalist like Adele or Celine.

It was revealed there was f**kery going on behind the scenes when that corruption scandal happened. NTLTC was supposed to get a SOTY nomination but the committee removed it for a song that had way less votes than NTLTC.

Scooter was basically the ultimate Svengali who loved making money most so he always found the right opportunities for his main clients' commercial prospects (even to the artists' personal disagreement) and that was what he focused on, with Justin and Ariana being two of the biggest artists of their generation.

But in that space, none of the time was made for the more traditional elbow-rubbing in critical circles that then lays the ground work for critical acclaim.

#1 singles to then push albums and concert tickets matters more to a manager than awards. And who knows if Scooter's presence, on top of everything, then tainted the reception amongst fellow industry peers, especially amongst voting members. Both Ariana & Justin have like 20+ nominations due to their success and less than 3 overall wins.

Hopefully she can be more seen in a new critical light under her new management and being allowed to make of a creative lead in her work, like she did with ES.

Ignoring the fact that she actually has Grammys, I think she called out one of the producers at some point - the same one Nicki called out. Also idk if she really campaigned for ES during the last voting cycle because she was focused on Wicked (where the real $$ is).

She has two Grammys.

And by your logic I guess Diana Ross, ABBA and Queen's music isn't special enough either since they have a grand total of 0 Grammy wins.

Because of the suggestive themes of her music. The academy hates women being openly sexual. And also because Ariana isn't an industry girlie. She keeps mostly to herself and networking goes a long way when it comes to getting votes.

No shade but given the type of music she makes I wouldn't exactly say she's snubbed. There's no way TUN was winning anything that year. ES deserved for pop vocal album but she had stiff competition last year.

¯\_(ツ)_/¯ say what you want, but she has a very decent and respectable amount of nominations as well, and it really is something to even just be *considered* to be at the top of the industry. she has won , and at the end of the day awards don't define an artist, talent does. Ari has plenty of talent regardless of how many grammys she has

In hindsight, Lizzo beating out not only Ariana but Billie, Taylor Swift, and Beyonce for Best Pop Solo Performance given where she is now seems like something that encapsulates how 2020 was the de-facto book-end to the era of the 2010s before the pandemic changed everything.

Anyways,

TUN was truly huge in 2019, I was rooting for her to win something for it back then, she was everywhere and that was her huge peak

But billie peaked at the same time as her with her debut and out peaked her which is really saying something because TUN and ari really did dominate in 2019

In retrospect it makes sense because the trap pop sounds she used for TUN have really faded away

Lizzo's Grammy wins for Truth Hurts and About Damn Time really aged like milk :rip:Both are completely forgotten despite not being that old. Recurrent streams on Spotify are terrible for multiweek #1 hits that spent 42 weeks on the chart. The power of campaigning shouldn't be understated. Grammys are incredibly unserious sometimes.

Truth Hurts was a huge song back then though and when Lizzo first got popular everyone loved her performances with the flute

it may not be popular now but it was huge in its time

I know lol. I said in my post that its recurrent streams are terrible for a multiweek #1 that spent almost a year on the chart which is why it aged like milk. I understand why Lizzo won in 2019. Truth Hurts peaked during the voting period and Grammy voters are lazy, especially pop voters. Lizzo was also campaigning everywhere. It made sense but it's a win that aged poorly, imo. Grammys aren't known for their foresight so that happens often with them.

grammy will award the same artist over and over again nothing new
