What does "finding yourself" mean to you?

Featured Replies

To me finding yourself means stanning aespa and anticipating comeback smash 'Rich Man' - out September 5. :gaycat1:

Understanding what genuinely ignites a spark within you, that motivates you to become the best version of yourself that's authentic and genuinely "you." It's about discovering who you are outside of societal expectations.

nothing. a chasing after the wind. i always thought this whole concept created more issues.

Oh I'm very spiritual like that. To put it short I think it strikes me best if I'm cloud / star gazing. Tends to give me the decision making that best soothes my soul.

It's a term used by woke white women who historically haven't done a lot of self-reflection, but who now want to make up for lost time by consciously attempting to do so.

Personally I think 'finding yourself' means not completely hating what's in the mirror. It's just acceptance of who you are and living with it.

Usually people who say that are beyond the age of figuring out what they want to do and who they want to be, and they kinda just waste their own time as well as other people's.

finding myself naked in another rando's bed which is how i start my day most days as of late

nothing, i already know myself because i spend my life with myself. i'm much more interested in other people

Sometimes people use it as excuse to alienate themselves from others or escape something. You won't „find yourself" without other people or facing your fears

"Finding yourself" is just releasing any and all shame around any of your most important passions so that you can exist as your most pure and authentic self. It's becoming fully okay with every part of yourself, even the ugliest and darkest parts.

IMO, you've truly found yourself once you've confidently given the middle finger to societal expectations and learned to live accordingly to what guides you in the heart. It's getting the career that you actually want, not what your parents or friends want. It's building the family you want, whatever it looks like. It's falling in love with whoever you want, whatever they look like. It's identifying as you please, no matter that what looks like.

A perfect illusion, mistaken for love.

Finding yourself is like a rabbit hole... The minute you think you got it, you got way more layers to analyse.

THAT BEING SAID... Even if it's an everlasting journey, you can still take a seat, analysing your beliefs and try to figure out whetever they serve you well or not.
