With Lungs it was Kiss With A Fist but that felt more like a promo-single to me.

kiss with a fist and what the water gave me doesn't have the lead singles treatments  but I do understand where you come from

AFAIK What the Water Gave Me was a buzz single, similar to Sky Full of Song, with Shake It Out/Hunger being the actual lead singles with promo focused on them.

WTWGM was definitely a promo single and SIO was treated as the lead but it was released first and got a video. Kiss With A Fist was the lead of Lungs though. Actually remember her promoting that song on the festival circuit before the later singles blew up.

It happens the same with Lana. She releases random tracks first but they are not treated as lead singles. 
 

SIO, Hunger and My Love were the actual leads for me and who knows if Everybody Scream is the sale case as WTWGM, SFOS or King.
