I feel like Pocketful of Sunshine was more of a US-thing, right? Her main market was the UK and maybe they got that song as a single but in germany it wasn't even released, as far as I remember. Of course it got more and more known due to being so prominent in "Easy A". Soulmate was EVERYWHERE and These Worde was a big hit in Germany but I feel like even Unwritten was only a small success here before the big resurgence last (?) year

Overprotected is suuuch a great song. It's so catchy. I hate I Love Rock N Roll and used to dislike Not A Girl but it has become such a cult classic, in my opinion. Britney (the album) as a whole is a masterpiece, it's right in the middle of where her sound was coming from and where she was going to. And it has some of the best pop songwriters of all time on it.

"Love Is" by Whitney was included in that new live album. I love that song, i think it has the potential for a big hit, had it been released in 93 or 94 or whenever it was recorded.

Yeees, I hear it too (same with some of Taylor Swifts songs). I think sometimes it's a cool effect to give a song a distinctive (handmade? lowkey?) style but that's the reason why it was impossible to create one good album out of the best Loneliest/Loveliest Time tracks. The recording quality feels all over the place. I think in some tracks they simply use the demo vocals

Im super excited right now. I just listened to all the bonus tracks. I enjoyed all the new Day songs but loved every new Night track in first listen. The albums are great as they are. A little bit overstuffed, in my opinion but there's really her best album hidden in there. I think sometimes the songs get boring because they just groove along but there's so much to enjoy over the two albums

I adore so many of his songs but after Arianas and Taylors last albums I don't want him near anyone. I really want him to find an artist he's passionate about and create the big pop masterpieces he did back to back from the late 90s until the 2010s

I love having my music libary. You get to be creative with it. I can add every bside, change the cover, reorder tracks. Whatever I like. I like to have a complete experience when it comes to artists i really like and the streaming services wouldn't be enough for me, tbh

Both single runs are incredibly iconic and I love both albums, owned both albums back then but Breakaway takes the cake, in my opinion.

I think it has to do with budget. 20-30 years ago big albums used to have writing camps and people were writing for chart success. Many writers tried to create a mainstream song but mainstream as it was doesn't really exist anymore, why should writers give a f when royalties are basically not a thing. Labels also don't invest in big songs because the payback is not there. At least that's one of the reasons, I think. There's so many things that play into the whole situation but yeah, culture is super different from what it used to be.

Oh my god, yes. It's one of her best songs. I get why it wasn't on Dedicated but it could've been a standalone song like Cut To The Feeling. I think it wasn't released because of the sample.

I listened to this album after the announcement and I have to say, that I MISS albums like this. It's super commercial, catchy, has strong hooks, amazing melodies. I need pop like this to make a comeback.

Sarah Connor and Jeanette Biedermann were the Xtina/Britney here in germany in the early 00s. I feel like we had amazing female pop acts in the 90s-00s (maybe even until the early 10s) but after that it went dark. The dark ages of german singer -songwriter stuff started and it was bad. We have Ikkimel right now but she's basically the Ayesha Erotica of germany. We also have Nina Chuba, Madeline Juno or Aylivia but I don't feel them. Helene Fischer is around of course but I feel like she's for the old people (40+ and everyone that already wants to die) Are there even any german popgirls left that sing in english? (Apart from Leony? Maybe Lena but not even she cares about her music)
