New Music Out Now!! 🎧💿

I miss Rihanna.

Featured Replies

As we all know, Rihanna has not released a new album in 9.5 years, quickly going on 10. At this point it's questionable if she will ever release a new body of work ever again.  I was and am a huge fan - she was my favorite artist growing up.

For some reason, tonight it really hit me how much I miss her music and her voice on new songs. We were so spoiled! We have her catalog but there's only so much you can revisit old songs before the void of not having new ones is a bummer.

Just wanted to make this thread to say I really miss her!  Anyone else, irregardless of frustrations with her, just really miss her lately? I've tended to avoid saying it out of just being annoyed there was no update on R9 lol

  • I was just listening to Who's That Chick at the gym the other day (another song of hers that people dug up to go viral on Tiktok because the Rihanna music void) and then went down a rabbit hole of her

  • This absence served to show she really didn't ever really have allot of raw talent tbh. She was always an urban Britney. (Even though I can say Britney was more talented at performing) Mmmm had she ha

I'm doing just fine without new music from her but I understand how frustrating it must be for her fans. if Gaga did that, idk how I would cope :cries:

It really is crazy to me how she completely lost interest in her music career.  For someone that was a constant hit machine for such a chunk of time to pull away from all of it like she did.  Is the fire just simply gone?  Maybe for some when you have more money than God your creative flame just goes out, and you're content just kicking back enjoying your life.

I'm mostly fine because as I've gotten older I've continued expanding what music as I listen to and have found a ton of new artists/music to enjoy in the last 10 years without her. But I have random days I'm like damn this sucks

It really must be nice to be her, though. Like if I had Rihanna money, I would strongly consider doing nothing.

(Even though I can say Britney was more talented at performing) Mmmm had she had talent she would've proved it by now. Everything she's done including the Super Bowl, has been a  half -a44 effort.

she got away with it before but I don't think she can pull it off anymore. Especially at 40.

I know same! I don't know how SADE fans do it…. It's depressing! But I've moved on.

I share the same sentiment about Britney. They both last released an album the same year 2016 so I understand where you're coming from.

I used to. She was my main pop girl forever. But thankfully I have moved on and discovered my new queen Karol g. Love u miss BICHOTA

I used to be a big fan, but honestly, I don't really care anymore

The long wait for new music really turned me off, and lately the music industry has become so interesting that I'm doing fine. She's never going to be the same performer she once was, attending major award shows to promote her work too. And that's understandable, since she's a mother now

Also I believe the huge expectation for something truly great and remarkable is just an illusion, her music career is treated as a third priority. ANTI will remain her magnum opus

I miss her a lot as well.

both my favorites gave up on music

Janet and Rihanna.

I still haven't a found a replacement lol

I didn't want to make this comparison because it feels so generic, and I was such a Navy until late 2021

But I remember how much I used to argue in forums with Beyoncé stans

But she truly proved that artists can be musicians and great businesswomen. You just have to want it

Music has always been her true passion

Rihanna never truly loved it that way

I'll always miss her presence in the music world but I've accepted where she's at in life and I'm happy for her. Like you said, she gave us so much of herself and worked non stop when she was active that it's hard for me to be truly upset. There's a lot to go back to and enjoy. She earned her happy ending and if she ever finds her way back then that would just be a bonus.

There's a spot that just hasn't quite been filled. Rihanna was releasing new music almost every year for the longest time and a majority of it was fabulous. Not having anything for almost a decade sucks. Idk if she's ever going to release another album, but she should at least consider releasing some scrapped tracks/demos. we know she has a bunch.

Something must've happened behind the scenes. I think some conversation she had, or maybe a realization, made her feel depressed or disillusioned with her music career. Maybe the fact that she was singing songs she never created, or someone told her she wasn't talented enough, and she felt like she wasn't a real artist or that her music career wasn't as worthy as the one other musicians had (?). She might've had her own Scooter Braun situation going on behind the curtain.

I think Tyla is trying to fill it,

but she's kind of bland by comparison.

We'll see.

...Vin

I went from missing her, to hating her, to waiting for her new album just so I wouldn't tune in out of spite of my little "vengeance." Now I'm just starting to forget about her.

Yeah, I still listen to We Found Love (they still play it on the radio a lot!!), but I'm slowly realizing some of my favorite songs from her are starting to age, as they're not hitting the way they used to.

She really was the gold standard for how a main pop girl should roll out new eras. She'll always be the blueprint. I just hope we get another Rihanna someday.

Not everything is about money, especially for someone who was almost broke and poured all her savings into trying to save her own music career. She was passionate about music. She cared about shaping culture and starting trends.

Something must've happened that killed that spark.

If it was just about money, she would've dropped that album ages ago and milked the fanbase dry.

But she was never truly a musician, and that's okay. But when you're more directly involved, you genuinely love creating art

I believe makeup filled that gap, since Fenty Beauty was her creation, she was always involved in the process

And when it comes to music, album and singles are nothing. And touring (when they actually make money) must be so exhausting. She was already highly successful with the shares in her company in the first years
