Chromatica is the much better album.

 

Joanne had more memorable singles, though.

Chromatica will likely win in a landslide bc I don't anticipate the greater ATRL community to give Joanne its flowers. Also voted for Joanne having better singles SOLELY bc of Stupid Love. Yes, it was really that bad.

Chromatica is basic for Gaga's standards but it's still a very solid pop album and fits into her discog easily.

 

Trashcanne is so basic, try-hard, shallow, sticks out like a dirty and ugly sore thumb. 

i literally despise chromatica but it's infinitely better than joanne

Chromatica is better but I have a soft spot for the Joanne album cover. It's just so... camp. Gaga unironically cosplaying as a country artist as an overreaction to the Artpop backlash. 'Shes stripping it back an showing the real her'. 

 

It's so funny and iconic in its own way.

Joanne is her only boring album (minus all of her side projects) 

They're both produced too softly and compressed. Mayhem is as well, I don't think she likes loud music like her debut anymore 

Both are not good, but Joanne is genuinely atrocious

Joanne is a pretty rough listen. I think "Perfect Illusion" is the best single out of these two albums, but Chromatica singles are more consistent.

I'm in the minority of people who loved Joanne, I think Gaga was so right to release a more mature and subdued album for her standards at the time. It felt refreshing and I thought this album was really well intentioned with songs like Joanne, Million Reasons, Angel Down, Hey Girl, Sinner's Prayer, etc. She really did (at the time) need a stripped back era and album for people to resonate with after the craziness that was her career between 08-15. Regardless of what you think of the album it was by all accounts a smart effort on her part and a perfect segueway into ASIB.

 

For me, where Joanne might seem a little less exciting of a project from Gaga, Chromatica felt a little phoned in and lifeless. Albeit a "good" pop album, but the fact that it and Mayhem are like night and day versions of each other tells me that Gaga was indeed going through the motions a bit for Chromatica and it simply has more filler and less interesting tracks compared to Mayhem and yes Joanne. Even the "standouts" on Chroma have grown a bit tired, like don't quote me about no Babylon, Fun Tonight, Free Woman, etc they're all soulless Bloodpop productions and we won't ever be forgiving him for clogging up her discog with those god awful remix albums.

Chromatica is in my top 3 favorite Gaga albums 

Chromatica, while more basic, was still very much a step in the right direction for Gaga. It's a cohesive body of work that has some strong songwriting, and it's probably the most emotional moment in her catalogue (so far). It will forever have a special place in my heart. 

 

Joanne is an identity crisis in the form of an album. There are a couple of standouts, but it's such a mess as a whole.

Chromatica is her weakest dance pop album and doesn't offer much of anything to her discography. Although Joanne's not any better in terms of quality it's atleast interesting and stands out. 

The Chromatica hate is so forced and tired.

Joanne isn't great but Chromatica is her rock bottom musically.

It's like asking which car crash caused less damage, I love it 

 

Chromatica has at least 4-5 good songs, I'll go with it.
