We need Virgin extended version, sis. Nuts to me how intentionally and unnecessarily short she made these songs, when almost every one could have had another 1-1.5 minutes...

 

And especially how every single one ends so abruptly, like the audio cutting off too early vs. fading - or just ending naturally.. totally takes me out of the moment for a few seconds lol

 

I never understand how that doesn't bother artists when they listen to the final master.

I listened on a speaker earlier and really enjoyed it but after listening with good quality earphones it's even better

Melodrama untouched

But this is truly a great work as a whole (singles didn't work that well)

She's telling a very personal story clear and rough

Her pen game is unmatched no other pop girl can write like her and that's why she will remain relevant  

Almost cried with Favorite Daughter

 

I really really like the album, I will buy it for sure !  

Enjoyed it on the first listen  Need to a few more listens but this is enjoyable! Melodrama remains her best album though

I think one thing that stands out to me is that there's no reflective payoff at the end the way her three other albums have with their closing tracks (A World Alone, Perfect Places, Oceanic Feeling). Not saying she has to have one every time, but David while emotional left me wanting one more song to round it all out.

Feel sorry for anyone who doesn't get shapeshifter  the way the production adds little elements as it goes along as if the song itself is shapeshifting  it's giving career highlight 

Also when current affairs clicks it CLICKS  what a SONG 

Overall it's a solid album, i have looped it a dozen times and i never get the "urge" to skip any of the tracks, it also has a broader appeal than Solar Power, a gem in her discog that only music intellectuals appreciate 

 

Man of the Year is still SOTY i'm afraid
