I'm gonna give you a like because even though I ADORE Perfect Places and think of it as a nearly perfect pop song, I've always hated The Louvre and people have never not given me sh*t for it. fellow Lorde stans, downvote me all you want! I love Lorde so much she's one of my favs, but The Louvre has always bothered me and never been a good song to me. I find the chorus grating, repetitive, and a bit lazy as a songwriter myself. there are songs out there that have no chorus, or that use a repetitive chorus, and it works well! but for me, tragically, The Louvre is not one of them. obviously, like I said, I love Lorde very much as an artist. I love Melodrama as a full album. The Louvre is not a good song to me, however  so I get where you're coming from, to some extent.

All songs will be singles. It's a 4-year era after all

Just had my first listen. It's a great album! I'm not as blown away as I thought I would be, but Lorde's music has always been more of a grower for me than an immediate stand out. So I know with time, some of these songs are gonna grow on me tremendously. And it was only my first listen so it's hard to judge!

 

But my favs of the new tracks were Favorite Daughter & If She Could See Me Now (special shoutout to GRWM & Broken Glass). Least favs were Current Affairs & David (I loved the buildup in David though). Shapeshifter needs to grow on me more. Clearblue is so haunting and beautiful with the vocoder.

 

I still love the 3 released singles and I think they fit great within the album, definitely good single choices!

Wait Current Affairs clears too. This album is so melodic. It's like swimming

This is album is truly the spiritual successor to Hard Feelings  It's as if that song is a short film and this album is the full-length feature film!

Great album. What an amazing return to form for Lorde while still showing growth and sounding fresh. Such a good feel record sonically and amazing vocals and melodies too.

Listening now and Shapeshifter is so good. It kinda reminds me a little of Viva La Vida in some parts help

Clearblue is so good. The vocal effect reminds me of Bon Iver on 22, A Million

Can't wait to listen in full tomorrow. Shapeshifter and Current Affairs have me most excited

Broken Glass reminds me kinda of What Was That. I love this one tho. Sounds like nothing she ever did.
