Yeah Swifties get a bad rep because we are so massive in number and people ofc make stuff up since that’s all they have :toofunny2:

It’s so interesting how she’s both very comparable to Madonna and also… not at all? If that even makes sense. Taylor’s pretty unique because you can’t really pigeonhole her as being a daughter of any specific legend that came before her and influenced her. There could be a case made for Madonna, Carole King, Joni Mitchell, Dolly Parton, even The Beatles comparisons. Yet honestly she doesn’t feel like a close successor of any specific artist. That’s kind of rare because oftentimes a new successful artist takes the space of an older one, with a similar niche. Taylor kinda has a mix of every type of music star in her from pop to country, controversial pop girl to lowkey songwriter.

With that said, the Madonna comparison does make sense. They’re not really alike in most ways but in the sense that she’s come along as an entirely new entity like Madonna did is cool. Even cooler that she did it while being a total opposite in terms of artistic/persona approach (which I obviously don’t mean as a negative towards Madonna’s brand since it was perfect and I stan her too). A legend truly

One thing i do love about Swifties is that despite the fact that Taylor is slowly but surely imposing herself as the "new Madonna" at least the fanbase doesn't try to actively erase Madonna's legacy and career the way Monsters tried to do. Both of them can perfectly co-exist as legends with massive careers and legacy.

I mean Taylor has already broken the S&S tour's record as biggest female tour of all time but that doesn't make Madonna's acomplishment any less impressive. The fact that Madonna kept it for over 15 years is pretty crazy :clap3:

That’s because unlike the claims from other fanbases, most Taylor Stans support talented and impactful women succeeding :gaylorcat1:

Exactly. There doesn't have to be only ONE big, massively successful female artist, many can co-exist without any issue.

There’s NO WAY anyone would deny the power that Madonna has had through all these years. The “monsters” that do are obviously insane or just plain trolling.

Actually, if you identify with the LGBTQ+ community, you should be thankful that Madonna existed and pushed as many boundaries as she could for us.

Also, Madonna’s tour accomplishment is astonishing and I’m very proud that Taylor will break it eventually :clap3:

Anyway, both legends on their own lane!

Oh trust me, a lot of them are NOT trolling with that crap, as insane as it sounds. They genuinely believe Gaga already erased her back in 2010 :rip:

And yeah, both Madonna and Taylor are incredible and they should both be celebrated :clap3:

So many fanbases want to try and erase Madonna’s legacy because they wish that is the route their faves went, but with Taylor she’s the only one who looks like she will be able to challenge her (commercially, Madonna is overall her own beast that’s irreplaceable overall)… and I think that’s why there’s more of a respect there.

And something that’s interesting to note is also all the differences in eras. Madonna and Taylor both saw different benefits and disadvantages from the eras they dominated in. Madonna pioneered so many things at the right time and place, about women and their sexuality and unabashed representation of some minority groups. And she had the benefit of massive album sales and the monoculture being at its peak during that era. On the flip side, touring wasn’t the beast it is now at all and she was greatly disadvantaged in terms of her singles given people didn’t buy songs back then as they did during the digital era. For Taylor, she has the benefit of streaming making her discography extremely accessible and touring being a massive thing. And she has come along at a time where some things needed to be shaken up again, in her case the way she’s working to change the industry’s treatment of artists in multiple ways, being essentially the first of her kind (young self-written woman making music for other young people) in country music, inspiring women in writing/being an instrumentalist. Not having massive album sales in this era and them taking longer to accumulate units, plus monoculture having died out, are both sorta disadvantages but she’s one of the last of her kind that’s truly omnipresent as a public figure.

They’re pretty much opposite sides of the same coin in terms of how they each defined their eras (late 20th century vs. early 21st century) unlike any other. (Also I think I sort of went on a tangent here hopefully this doesn’t seem too random :toofunny3:)

I won’t be a hypocrite, I used to think like that back in 2010 when I was like 15 years old, but not anymore.

It’s important to put things in context. I also do believe Gaga had an important part on Pop Music (in my personal opinion), but erasing anything Madonna has done is acting like a fool, even if I don’t listen to her music much or know her whole catalogue.

It amazes me that I started listening to Taylor with Red when nobody knew who she was around me and then more than 10 years later she’s bigger than ever :jonny5: I’m so proud of all these girl bosses :clap3:

honestly I always cared about the music when it's about ...music artists. In the long terms what stays with people is music (everyone know Here comes the sun even without knowing the name of all the beatles, or about the beatles mania pop culture domination). Honestly all this kind of conversation is always the most inauthentic thing in pop music and very biased and pr pushed. All these documentaries tryng to explain why The beatles have changed History. In the reality the impact of pop stars in history is minimal, the figures (and artists) making history are others. Madonna is not even in the top 5000 of the most important figures in LGBTQ history . It's just pr propaganda.

I genuinely think that people just don’t get Taylor’s artistry I mean why is there a thread saying she’s the most overrated artist ever? :rip: That’s clearly not true

they’re so used to the Gaga’s of the world with her flashy showmanship, gimmicks and huge personality … that someone like Taylor who’s appeal is her relatability and understanding of complex emotions that real people feel just dosen’t make sense to them.

This site is OBSESSED with the idea of "performers" and big flashy things, the way they just throw away songwriting and instruments is just so weird to me. Taylor is obviously an extremely talented artist, you have to be delusional to pretend otherwise. I mean, seeing Rihanna stans of all people calling Taylor "talentless" is the biggest irony of all time :rip:

of course all fanbases have annoying people, but the complete lack of self-awareness when saying “if it were XYZ we would never hear the end of it” or whatever :bibliahh:

and it’s always the bad apples that only care about achievements and never discuss the music…

hits different is right now #10 on on genius.com and the lyric have been read 755k times (a song only in a deluxe target edition), more than some #1 hits.

if she will release it next friday it's gonna smash :monkey:

I’m not saying you’re wrong at all about every fanbase being deranged but Swifties aren’t even the most irritating pop girl fanbase, or at the very least not worse than several other ones people consider notorious. Now consider that she is 10x bigger than any of her contemporaries. Swifties don’t do nearly as much as they could. Like, that doesn’t negate that we all suck, but it’s a fair point. Most other fanbases do way more with way less :deadbanana4:

You guys do realise that this Thursday’s show is one of TWO Thursday shows for the whole tour, right? And it’s April 13th, her favourite number… :duca:

baby let the (clown) games begin

And on a Wednesday in a cafe I watched it begin again

yeah honestly swifties could be even more annoying.

i rememeber threads about "bad bunny is again the spotify number 1 artist" some weeks after midnights release. I don't remember swifties threads about taylor becoming number one again over him.

I remember threads about Cuff It overtaking Anti hero. That was just 1 week. I don't remember swifties threads about anti hero overtaking it again.

I remember threads about sos vs midnights. I don't remember a tread to tell Midnights is again beating Sos daily.

And so so many others similar situations. Then if posts about historical featurings (not someone about yesterday numbers as most of the threads i have talked about) like biggest tour of all time, biggest attendance for a concert, most album in the top 40 in the same week are annoying well....deal with it :giraffe:

oh i even remember threads about how Bebe Rexha was already outstreaming anti hero  :ahh:. Now the songmost streamed daily is the second.. i haven't seen any thread about it.
