Can you IMAGINE what would happen if it was Gaga, Beyonce, Rihanna or Britney who were slaying like that, with the fanbases that they have? Now THAT would show people what insufferable actually is  

 

Swifties are actually pretty tame in comparison to others fanbases, we just get attacked more because most people on ATRL hates Taylor and they hate us as a result.

I can’t explain what I feel when I listen to Maroon’s bridge.

Taylor’s brand, relatability, talent and refusal to follow trends really built this from the ground up.

It’s really giving the Madonna of her time … her closest contemporary is Beyoncé but that’s in name recognition and acclaim alone.

It’s such a specific feeling  and when she takes a breath after slaying us like that, gaspingly singing ‘… to leave!’ And then automatically goes into the chorus/outro in a solemn, dazed and confused tone

As a huge Madonna fan i agree with that. Her career trajectory does reminds me a lot of Madonna in many ways. She doesn't have the "edgy" or groundbreaking side Madonna had but her constant success and impact is similar. They tried to crown Gaga as the "new Madonna" already back in 2009-2010 but it's clear at this point that Taylor is the one.

I remember that Maroon was not on my initial favorites but when it hit… I got HIT by it like never before and it’s on my top 3 now 

 

Also, adding to my previous post, the bridge is something that’s relatable to everyone. You can ALWAYS think of someone that’s left a mark on you and it’s really a ******* legacy to leave

If it were Gaga doing these numbers the Monsters would have already rendered this website unusable with their spam, independent threads comparing how Gaga is bigger than every other pop girl they can think of. They'd crash the server and make everyone miserable while at it

I mean, it's the same fanbase who literally tried to erase Madonna and her legacy back in 2009-2011, Gaga was still a newcomer yet they acted as if Madonna never existed and Gaga was above her in every way. As a Madonna fan i still remember that crap, it was UGLY 

 

And yeah they're still just as bad today, everytime Gaga breathes they make a new thread about it. They STILL think she's somehow the biggest female artist ever, they never moved on from the first three years of her career

It’s clear that to be the “new Madonna” you have to do something which no other contemporary artist is capable of doing

why music artists have to be edgy?

i wouldn't use that word for so many legendary pop artists.

Exactly. Which is why Taylor is the best suited to be the "new Madonna". Her longevity, musical re-inventions and commercial dominance over other female artists is why she's in the best position.

Music artists don’t need to be edgy anymore. There was a time when it was the only way of creating attention and then sell your music. 

I think this is why in 2008-2013 we watched a lot of controversy and “edginess” on pop music. 

However, on the Streaming era you can literally choose to listen to whoever you want and discover a lot of artists if Spotify recommend them to you.

Yeah Swifties get a bad rep because we are so massive in number and people ofc make stuff up since that’s all they have

It’s so interesting how she’s both very comparable to Madonna and also… not at all? If that even makes sense. Taylor’s pretty unique because you can’t really pigeonhole her as being a daughter of any specific legend that came before her and influenced her. There could be a case made for Madonna, Carole King, Joni Mitchell, Dolly Parton, even The Beatles comparisons. Yet honestly she doesn’t feel like a close successor of any specific artist. That’s kind of rare because oftentimes a new successful artist takes the space of an older one, with a similar niche. Taylor kinda has a mix of every type of music star in her from pop to country, controversial pop girl to lowkey songwriter. 
 

With that said, the Madonna comparison does make sense. They’re not really alike in most ways but in the sense that she’s come along as an entirely new entity like Madonna did is cool. Even cooler that she did it while being a total opposite in terms of artistic/persona approach (which I obviously don’t mean as a negative towards Madonna’s brand since it was perfect and I stan her too). A legend truly

I just love Taylor so much and am so proud of her. I never thought the artist that got me through so much would find so much success and acclaim being compared to absolute legends like Joni, Dolly, The Beatles, Madonna and Carole
