anti-hero has its 24th week in the top 10 on lock unless something crazy happens. we’ll see about a 25th, anti-hero leading for most top 10 weeks this decade for a female artist would be extremely impressive considering the amount of smashes that have come out lately.

on another note, i’m still listening to midnights every day and i haven’t gotten tired of it. i feel like the fanbase/people on atrl like to dunk on midnights and say it’s “bad” but honestly? this is one of her best projects in my opinion. and it’s obviously subjective but i feel like if you get it you get it and if you don’t, you don’t.

Tree quashing Deuxmoi's rumors :dies:  DM has taken a huge hit from all of this, because they were the main one propagating the "they were 100% married" thing.

Tree mostly gives exclusives to People and keeps reputable pubs like NYT close, but she's not above talking to more tabloid-y sources. I remember Clayd (NYC Swiftie who used to post on here) who went to the 1989 Secret Sessions said in his post about talking to Tree that she said she has a working relationship with Perez Hilton (Perez also revealed the tea about the Karlie friendship fallout). The whole "Why She Disappeared" feature in the leadup to Rep was in OK! Magazine.

25 weeks in the top 10 would actually be insane… such a kii after OTSH laughed at her folkmore songs longevity on the charts, that she turned around and had anti hero up her sleeve ahehsjjdjd I knew it would bite them in the ass!

I took a few months away from it because I was admittedly a bit underwhelmed but I've had it in constant rotation all of April so far, it really is a very addicting album that only feels a tad redundant when stacked next to her past albums. Now in the context of the breakup it sounds even more interesting, especially Question and Dear Reader.

Y'all really want Taylor to date a Jenner's leftover. :skull:

I don't think she will be dating anyone soon with the rerecordings will take up like 5 more years of her life. Good for her, focus on yourself queen.

She's not good at being single. She hated the time between Red and 1989.

I think she will find a new boo before the summer. I wonder what she's looking for. A famous guy again, someone who can handle the fame?

She's not gonna look for a new guy while she's touring. She's not going to date again just a few months between relationships

Won't be so sure about that but let's see who is right. I think she will keep it secret as long as possible tho.

I never thought she and Joe would last but I always kept it to myself so that people wouldn't jump down my throat :ducky:. And I never care who her songs are supposedly about because I actually love them independently of the "narrative" and gossip, unlike the many deuxmoi-dwelling fans who only care about drama. The fandom would become so much better if those people unstanned

Surprise guitar or surprise piano?

SURPRISE SONGS:

March 17: mirrorball (guitar); Tim McGraw (piano)

March 18: this is me trying (guitar); State of Grace (piano)

March 25: Our Song (guitar); Snow on the Beach (piano)

March 26: cowboy like me (with Marcus Mumford; guitar); White Horse (piano)

March 31: Sad Beautiful Tragic (guitar); Ours (piano)

April 1: Death by a Thousand Cuts (guitar); Clean (piano)

April 2: Jump then Fall (guitar); The Lucky One (piano)

I personally prefer the songs she did on the guitar (SBT, timt, DBATC) but I find the songs made on the piano to be really elevated compared to their original (SOTB and TLO especially).

Cupcakes streaming like they personally just broke up with J*e :deadbanana:

It's an easy 6-1 for the piano songs.

It's her best pop album :giraffe:.

1989 was too succinct and generic which is understandable since she needed it to be a successful pivot to pop.

Lover and Reputation are weighed down by 5/ 4 tracks that are just the worst songs of her career.

Midnights managed to avoid all of this. The glittery pen songs are cleverly written, the confessional songs are introspective and candid, and her voice is the best it has ever been. Jack's production also lends itself well to the subject matter of all songs. TS 11 needs to be another Aaron album though, the tracks the nationals have released so far off of their new album is the sound I want her to explore next, alternative indie rock that is more hard-hitting than mellow folkmore songs.

Taylor's melodies and lyrics would work so well over these instrumentals

Oh here is the tea. I was thinking the same thing - guitar songs are a better selection but the piano really made songs sound special. I do prefer a live piano to a live acoustic guitar as well, usually. SOTB, Clean, Ours, White Horse… whew if only we had an official piano version of Ours. Somehow it made the song sound slightly haunting and the melody really shines without the 2012 YouTuber background music instrumental :jonny:

Lavender Haze honestly applies here as well. It’s not like a giant smash but it’s going to do 30+ weeks easily atp and has had more longevity than almost any singles by her peers in recent years :rip:  Will probably end up being somewhat comparable to, like, 34+35 or something in terms of numbers. Without a remix or anything.

They really do. That's why there's been so many hateful threads for months now, it's a nightmare for them to see Taylor be THAT successful all the time. They know she's the biggest female artist in the world and they can't stand it. That recent thread about the NYT and Folklore is a great example, all the "but Chromatica!!!!" was really something to witness :toofunny3:

I mean, she's close to 17 years into her career and she literally NEVER flopped, it's crazy. And i don't think she ever will honestly, at worst she'll underperform but her loyal fanbase will always gives her good sales/streaming numbers no matter what.

Top 3 longest charting post 1989 are delicate, anti, lavender

I was just listening to angels like you by Miley and it reminded me sm about the Taylor and Joe breakup :weeps:

The large majority of her songs just aren't meant for piano imo, it makes them lifeless. Lover is the best example of this. The piano version that she kept performing in 2019 is turgid and meandering, but the guitar version has a natural warmth.
